The Position
Lay-out, assemble, install, test or repair, and calibrate pneumatic or electronic instrumentation. Able to troubleshoot, modify, install, run, and program all programmable plant equipment (PLCs, TDC, etc.)
The maintenance electrician will be able to perform the following tasks with little or no supervision.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
Lay-out, assemble, and install electrical or instrumentation lines and equipment of all kinds from complex blueprints, diagrams, and rough sketches
Program plant programmable equipment PLC's, TDC's, PC, etc
Develop, perform, and conduct routine PMs on Plant Instruments, PLC's, DCS, and PC systems
Troubleshoot Process Control Loops and take corrective measures
Take active part in system upgrades for new and obsolete instrumentation
Taking ownership for plant process reliability
Initiate and follow through with process changes
Troubleshoot electrical motors or motor systems, etc., and take corrective action
Install and repair electrical control equipment including conduit, tray cable, etc
Install and repair electric motors
May guide other maintenance personnel as required on specific jobs
Assist in the training of maintenance personnel
Watch for any irregularities in the equipment operation, correct where possible and advise supervisor of defects needing attention
Inspect, adjust, and calibrate instruments as scheduled and record pertinent information as required by ISO, PSM and MI programs
Install, troubleshoot, and replace instruments of all kinds from complex blueprints, diagrams, and rough sketches
Perform electrical work pertaining to instrument operations
Ensure that production and housekeeping in assigned areas meet Good Manufacturing Practice Standards
Follow all applicable safety requirements
Comply with the requirements of the Lawrence Quality System
Complete other job responsibilities as assigned and all jobs in a timely manner

Key Activities:
Project Management/Coordination:
Coordinates and provides leadership for all phases of various facilities-related projects performed by coworkers and outside contractors. These may include, but not to be limited to, construction projects involving building structure maintenance, electrical projects, pipefitting-related projects, or installation of new equipment and mechanical systems.
Preventative Maintenance & Repairs:
Perform routine, emergency, preventive maintenance and operational assignments relating to operation and/or maintenance of medium voltage distribution systems.

Training/Guidance:
Provides guidance and training to other technicians and ensures minimal disruptions to daily operations during the facilities related projects.
Provides guidance to technical staff in other trades on safe electrical work practices.
Contract Development & Management:
Provides input for developing RFPs where significant technical expertise in several areas is necessary.
Budget:
Collaborates with lead to develop project budgets and estimates.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Typically requires at least 5 years of relevant experience.
A minimum of 3 years industry experience with a Master Electrician level - Kansas City Missouri license preferred with experience in commercial and/or industrial electrical work.
Strong knowledge of NFPA 70E, electrical safety requirements, including arc flash personal safety requirements.
Experience leading project teams, supervising contract work, and developing written work instructions. Experience with project estimating preferred.
Good computer skills - proficient with Microsoft Office suite, internet application, email. Proficient at operating all computer equipment associated with assigned equipment or systems.
Possess good writing and critical thinking skills.
Must be able to originate instruction documents that can be used by other technicians to perform preventive maintenance or verify electrical system operation.
Proficiency with floor plans and line drawings.
Understanding of manufacturer's equipment manuals and operational instructions.
Ability to multitask and use time efficiently to meet project deadlines.

Work Shift: While the typical schedule for this position is anticipated to be 7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Monday through Friday, flexibility to adjust to different shifts is necessary. Some overtime is required when performing or overseeing the performance of preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical distribution equipment and in projects performed for internal customers.

Under general supervision, performs the full range of skilled, journeyman level Electrician duties in order to support the education mission of the District and to enhance the education environment. The maintenance electrician will work as part of a team to Install, inspect, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and related systems for the school district.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs skilled maintenance and repair of building structures, equipment and facilities, with major emphasis on electric systems and components
Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures control devices and equipment.
Diagnose, locate the cause of, and repair malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance through inspection of electrical systems, equipment and components.
Ensure all work performed adheres to all relevant organizational, and municipal safety regulations, codes and specifications.
Maintains accurate records using District provided work order system.
In coordination with other departments, will participate in larger maintenance and repair operations as needed.
Estimates, determines needs, and arranges for supplies and equipment in order to perform or schedule work assignments.
Promote quality workmanship and productivity.
Keeps immediate supervisor and/or Director of Physical Properties advised of current maintenance situation and work schedules.
Other duties as directed by the Director of Physical Properties or assigns.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Good oral and written communication skills.
General knowledge of building construction and systems, and repair terminology.
General knowledge of line voltage and low voltage electrical systems and maintenance trades in a commercial environment.
Ability to measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install rigid galvanized electrical conduit, using tools such as a pipe threader, conduit bender and other standard tools of the trade.
Ability to interact with supervisors, staff, vendors, co-workers and the public using a positive, collaborative approach.
Ability to problem solve and engage necessary staff/supervisors to address facility issues.
Initiative and ability to work with minimal direction or monitoring; sound judgment and decision making capabilities are essential.
Ability to coordinate, organize, schedule and assign work when necessary.
Ability to perform well under stress and meet deadlines.
Ability to perform all requirements of a preventive maintenance technician.
Numerical ability required to make proper calculations.
Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications of new construction, installation, and maintenance of equipment.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
High school, trade and/or vocational school graduation and completion of union, private, military or trade school apprenticeship program that includes theory and on-the-job training.
Minimum of four (4) years' work experience as a Journey-level electrician or equivalent work experience with an emphasis in a commercial, educational or facilities operations setting.
Preferred:Knowledge of public schools or university operations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is medium to heavy. Routinely handles loads weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally handles loads weighing up to 100 pounds or more, using appropriate equipment and/or lifting techniques. Walks and stands most of the day. Stooping and climbing as required. Must be able to work at heights. Requires near-visual acuity and good color vision to inspect and approve repair and maintenance, read blueprints, building code manuals, and other documents. Works both inside and outside. The work environment may be subject to loud noise from machinery, equipment and tools. May be required to work long hours.
DRIVER'S LICENSE:
Employee shall have a valid driver's license at the time of his/her employment with the Kansas City Kansas USD #500 School District. IF, at any time during his/her employment, the employee should lose their driver's license and/or their driver's license suspended for any reason, the employee shall immediately notify the Director of Physical Properties.

Your role at Clorox:
The Electrical Technical Lead is responsible for Electrical repair work, Electrical skill building, Electrical projects, and Electrical technology for the entire site. Key Responsibilities:
Modify, maintain, or repair electronics equipment or systems to ensure proper functioning.
Replace defective components or parts, using hand tools and precision instruments.
Set up and operate specialized or standard test equipment to diagnose, test, or analyze the performance of electronic components, assemblies, or systems.
Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions for assembling electronics units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components.
Assemble, test, or maintain circuitry or electronic components, according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, or knowledge of electronics, using hand or power tools.
Maintain system logs or manuals to document testing or operation of equipment.

Execute PM work orders and create work orders for issues found during PM inspections.
Troubleshoot, repair, improve, and maintain all equipment including all electrical components, drive systems, conveyors, processing equipment, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, utilities, etc.
Utilize shop equipment, measurement and other diagnostic tools, and power and hand tools to assess the condition of new and used equipment.
Maintain and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and vendor developed programs.
Become SAP proficient to pull weekly work schedule and evaluate work orders and concerns to escalate appropriately to ensure scheduled work can be completed.
Prepare maintenance daily reports using activity logs, analysis, and trends.
Attend daily shift meetings to discuss prioritized work orders and minimizing downtime.
Enforce safety policies and procedures.
Confer with other shifts and departments to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
Interpret specifications, job orders and company policies and procedures for team members.
Direct and coordinate the activities of team members engaged in the production or processing of goods.
Conduct team member training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures.
Recommend or implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality or efficiency.
Review and reconcile system data as needed, create reports, and perform root cause analysis.
Ensure all team members are able to troubleshoot equipment safely and effectively.
Work with other shifts and departments to schedule and ensure timely and safe completion of routine and preventative maintenance for area equipment.
Other duties as needed to support business operations as directed by Management.
Working Conditions:
The Electrical Technical Lead continually or frequently encounters these conditions during a shift of work: 1) exposure to dust & fine particles; 2) exposure to high noise levels; 3) exposure to moving equipment; 4) exposure to scents and odors; 5) repetitive gross and fine hand motions, including grasping, gripping and bending hand/wrist; 6) standing (up to 8 hours per shift); 7) walking (up to 8 hours per shift); 8) wear common protective or safety equipment (safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats); 9) work at heights exceeding 6 feet; 10) work indoors, partially environmentally controlled.
The Electrical Technical Lead occasionally or seldom encounters these conditions during a shift of work: 1) bending, twisting or squatting; 2) climb steps and ladders; 3) lifting and carrying, up to 50 lbs; 4) pushing and pulling, up to 50 lbs; 5) reach above shoulder, perform work at or above shoulder height; 6) sitting; 7) wear specialized protective or safety equipment; 8) work in an enclosed vehicle or equipment; 9) work in an open vehicle or equipment; 10) work in very hot or very cold temperatures; 11) work outdoors, exposed to weather; 12) work with cutting tools.

+ Execute PM work orders and create work orders for issues found during PM inspections.
