Position Overview:
The Process Engineer will be responsible for developing, documenting, and training operators on all extrusion, pelletizing, grinding, sawing, and CNC routing systems across Supersede's operations. This role will also lead the technical specification, procurement, and implementation of new equipment and production systems while driving continuous process improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with a strong background in plastics processing, industrial equipment, and process optimization. This role will work closely with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to ensure equipment reliability, consistent product quality, and efficient production ramp-up. The position will be based in Phoenix, Arizona, and will require travel (up to 50%) to our Elkhart, Indiana facility during equipment installation and startup phases.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, document, and implement operating procedures for extrusion, pelletizing, grinding, sawing, and CNC routing equipment.
Train production operators and maintenance personnel on safe, efficient, and standardized equipment operation.
Specify, document, and manage requests for quotation (RFQs) for new equipment and production systems.
Negotiate with suppliers to optimize cost, performance, and delivery.
Oversee equipment procurement, installation, and commissioning at both Phoenix and Elkhart facilities.
Lead process optimization and continuous improvement projects to increase throughput, reduce scrap, and enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Apply Lean Manufacturing principles (such as 5S, SMED, and standard work) to improve workflow, minimize changeover time, and eliminate waste.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues related to extrusion and secondary equipment.
Maintain accurate process documentation and equipment data within the company's ERP system.
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure new equipment meets production, quality, and safety requirements.
Support the development and implementation of preventive maintenance and process control systems.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in plastic extrusion, compounding, or related manufacturing.

Summary

Position Summary
The Process Quality Engineer ensures on-going product quality through continuous process and product monitoring, statistical analysis, and continual quality improvement initiatives.
