Provides process engineering support to help maintain and enhance the safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly operation of the nitrogen fertilizer production units while maximizing production capacity. Works with other disciplines within the Engineering Department as well as, Operations, Maintenance and EHS to ensure solutions meet overall business objectives.

Job Responsibilities:
Monitor and report on plant operating performance of assigned units including overall plant efficiency, capacity, product yields, catalyst life, emissions, and process safety. Collect field data as required to ensure accuracy of results.
Complete performance evaluations and generate recommendations to resolve identified problems found in process equipment including compressors, turbines, heat exchangers, absorbers, strippers, boilers, combustion equipment, and reactors.
Provide process optimization, troubleshooting, data analysis, and technical support to the operations organization.
Provide detailed engineering support and monitor / expedite assigned jobs through the Management of Change process to ensure timely execution.
Evaluate and participate in the development of potential capital improvement projects to increase production capacity, improve energy efficiency, and enhance EHS performance.
Prepare and review documents including PFDs, P&IDs, scopes of work, and equipment specifications to support capital improvement project budget authorization requests and approved project execution. Provide detailed written justifications for management approval.
Review new operational procedures and conduct training for operations personnel for significant changes.
Participate in PHAs, LOPA studies, and incident investigations.
Identify and implement solutions to EHS related action items to meet schedule requirements.
Assist Maintenance and Operations during turnarounds by providing pre-turnaround process engineering recommendations, assisting in planning specialty work, performing equipment inspections related to process issues, monitoring equipment repairs that can affect the process, coordinating catalyst replacements, and assisting with plant restarts.
Continually evaluate ways to improve site safety, including, but not limited to developing and implementing solutions to meet CF Operating Standards. Maintain a professional working relationship with all departments.
Internal Controls:
Understands and complies with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identifies and brings to the attention of department management internal controls deficiencies.
Successful incumbents will have:
BS degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
Seven or more years of engineering related experience in the oil, gas, or chemical manufacturing industry preferred.
Seven or more years of experience with capital project development and/or execution preferred.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) required. Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with personnel of all backgrounds.
Ability and willingness to collect field data, enter process equipment for inspections, and otherwise work in an operating chemical facility environment.
Ability and willingness to work alternative shifts/schedules to support 24 hour/7 days per week operations during process unit startups, shutdowns, upsets, vessel inspections, and catalyst reductions.
Must be able to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC).
The ability to prove drug and alcohol free at random or for cause.

Position Overview:
Under the guidance of Process Optimization Manager, support the day-to-day production activities to ensure the safety, quality, and efficiency of the manufacturing process. Identify and execute process improvement initiatives. Track and optimize site asset utilization, production performance, and variable manufacturing costs. Perform engineering analysis to reduce waste and down time. Support plant HSE initiatives. Incorporate good process safety practices.
What you will be doing:
Performs and supports all aspects of the Production Engineer role at Ecoservices
Applies engineering principles to design, modify, or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment or processes used in processing Sulfuric Acid and/or Treatment Services in regeneration sulfuric acid units.
Utilizes OSI PI software to provide advanced troubleshooting for plant problems and review unit performance improvements. Provides justification for projects and improvements through data analysis and Six Sigma methodologies.
Responsible for SUMO for the Site. (SUMO = Performance data that determines overall plant “well-being” with respect to plant rate and efficiency of process equipment.
Utilizes technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations to create long-term improvements in the plants.
Completes small capital project SCOPE development and execution of small projects (< $50k)
Lead / Participate in Unit HAZOPS and follow-up action items as required to mitigate risks in the unit from the PHA.
Provides advanced troubleshooting support to operations personnel in each unit and works closely with the Unit Supervisor and engineers to effectively troubleshoot plant-wide issues.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities
Reviews and discusses safety incident occurrences on the electronic incident database (Enablon) within the plant.
Provide technical support for safety resolutions as needed (i.e. Technical Design, What if, PSSR, MOC, SOP…).
Assists in development of the safety training within the department and for MOC and unit specific items.
Leads / Attends causal tree investigation meeting for accident/incident occurrences.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering from a four-year college or university highly preferred, will consider all Engineering disciplines
4 - 7 years of plant or manufacturing engineering experience. 3+ years of production engineering experience preferred.
Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker's Identification Card.
Applies principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Leverage technical data to create various communications (email, presentation, executive summary, etc.) to support technical determinations used in critical decision making. Includes presenting proposals to leadership and upper management.
Participates in panel discussions and debates. Speaks extemporaneously on a variety of subjects to employees within the company.

Job Proficiency
Executes repair of manufacturing equipment.
Assist in work prioritization and triage during peak production periods to maintain workflow efficiency.
Support the shipyard's transition from low-rate to high-volume production, identifying and implementing necessary changes in processes and infrastructure.
Onboard new automated manufacturing assets, collaborating with software and production engineering to drive improvements in software products that support production processes.
Create manufacturing processes in unstructured areas of our operational system.
Assist in work prioritization and triage during peak production periods to maintain workflow efficiency
Culture and Collaboration
Follow all shipyard safety policies, including proper use of PPE, fire prevention, and confined space protocols
Assist in the training and development of other manufacturing engineers, as well as production engineers
Collaborate and communicate with welders, metal fitters, pipefitters, electricians, and other trades as required to complete vessel construction or repair and to maintain efficient work flows
Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced ship production environment
Maintain a clean and safe work area

This entry-level position provides a development opportunity for a recent engineering graduate to build expertise in chemical manufacturing by gaining experience across multiple AI production units. The role focuses on developing operational understanding, technical capabilities, and project management skills by working on projects for the Active Ingredient (AI) units, including identifying production bottlenecks, addressing safety issues, and implementing improvement opportunities. Typically, the role is assigned 9-12-month rotations within a 2-3-year rotational program across the production units at the St. Gabriel site. Success in this role provides opportunities to progress into dedicated production engineering positions.
Accountabilities:
Support special projects as needed for AI production.
Map and document current operations by interacting with technicians and production personnel.
Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to redesign and optimize operations.
Support or lead implementation of improvement initiatives, including technical documentation, training, commissioning, and start-up.
Ensure proper review and documentation of processes and changes for operational, safety, and environmental impact via Management of Change.
Develop and present technician training programs.
Support daily production activities for a production unit, such as quality or process monitoring, environmental compliance tracking, production reporting, etc.
Provide process engineering support on troubleshooting, applying a combination of theoretical and applied knowledge to help resolve challenges.
Manage day-to-day expectations of stakeholders.
Coordinate plant trials or new product introductions into the MPF unit.
Support unit operations in incident investigations related to production processes.
Qualifications
Required:
B.S. Chemical Engineering with 0-3 years of experience in chemical process design or production.
Knowledge of process safety, environmental regulation, and programs.
Understanding of safety, environmental, and economic issues associated with the operation of a chemical plant.
Ability to successfully communicate with various functions (Supply Chain, SH&E, Process Technology, Plant Engineering, Quality Control, operations personnel).
Ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Good interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, and ability to lead and facilitate meetings.
Analytical, logical, and open-minded.
Desired:
Manufacturing experience in a highly complex chemical production facility preferred.
Experience in process safety by participating in risk assessments or PSM-covered processes.
