Implement technical solutions into the build plan to ensure production safety, stability, and product reliability; lead the complex integration of systems into a repeatable, efficient installation process. Analyze and improve design/build concepts and collect and analyze production data to identify anomalies and investigate root causes when first-pass quality or production efficiency fall outside standards. Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems arising during production to preserve product integrity and minimize impacts to performance, cost, or schedule. Drive innovative tooling and equipment requirements to enable earlier, more ergonomic, and more efficient installation and testing of electrical components. Apply technical knowledge to design and develop manufacturing and assembly processes, tooling, fixtures, and procedures; assist in the development and implementation of production and tooling methodologies. Assist in implementing manufacturing plans, new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies, and concepts across teams, including electrical systems design, equipment installation, and functional test. Develop and implement process improvements using Lean production methodologies and assist in the implementation of Lean principles and technologies. Regularly engage with mechanics, electricians, suppliers, IPTs, and internal customers to identify and implement opportunities to improve the efficiency and reliability of the aircraft build plan and to develop products, skills, and knowledge. Coordinate with production and design engineers across commodities to ensure integration of electrical systems with all other interfacing airplane components (structures, interiors, etc.). This is a Production Engineering role requiring direct interface with people, parts, and equipment on the production floor. A typical day may include: Spending extended periods on your feet (up to 8 hours), standing and walking on the production floor. Climbing ladders or stairs to access equipment or airplane sections. Working at heights or in confined/tight spaces. Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Essential Skills * Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. * 3+ years of experience in mechanical engineering. * Strong project management, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. * Comfortable using hand tools and power tools in a production environment. * Hands-on experience in one or more technical disciplines: Rubber, Fabrication, Forming, Coatings, Castings, Machining. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Proficiency in manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, power tools, and fabrication. * Experience in metal forming, root cause analysis, welding, and capital expenditure (capex). * Knowledge of manufacturing process improvement, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma. * Ability to conduct risk assessments and perform statistical analysis. * Familiarity with SolidWorks and process engineering. Work Environment This position is based in a production and industrial manufacturing work environment. Team members should be prepared to engage in hands-on activities, which may result in grease stains on clothing. The standard working hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. JOB SUMMARY As part of our recent growth, we are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying and implementing production, manufacturing and finish methods. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Evaluate manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling and materials. * Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements. * Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout. * Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor and material costs; reviewing production schedules and estimating future requirements. * Use process steps to define and call out reasonable set up and run times. * Write operator work instructions and inspection documents to ensure compliance with product, process and system requirements. * Accurately interpret aerospace manufacturing drawings, specifications and engineering requirements. Provide technical support and training to coworkers, customers, and suppliers. * Write mistake-proof work instructions and manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with product, process and system requirements; reduce variation and improve repeatability. * Refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles and techniques. * Provide technical support and training to coworkers, customers, and suppliers. * Ensure compliance with all federal, state, company and customer requirements. * Act as primary point of contact for supplier inquires, product and process conformance decisions, and process improvement activities. * Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time. * Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Thorough knowledge of aerospace manufacturing drawings, specifications and engineering requirements. * Ability to write clear, accurate, comprehensive and concise documents, formatted to increase information accessibility and grammatically correct. * Ability to lead cross-functional teams and experienced in developing win-win relationships with coworkers, customers, suppliers, and auditors. * Experience with the fabrication, assembly, application of protective finishes, and inspection of structural aerospace products. Catia v5 experience a plus. * Thorough knowledge of AS9100 quality system requirements. Familiarity of Nadcap requirements a plus. * Solution orientated, able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to solve a wide range of difficult problems in practice and cost effective ways. * Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. * Accepting of criticism and ability to deal calmly and effectively with stressful situations. * Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges. * Ability to identify, organize, estimate and recognize differences or similarities. * Ability to deal with a wide variety of personalities and communication styles. * Ability to provide direction and guidance.
