Expected salary range:
Mid-Level - $90,000 - $110,000

Primary Purpose of Position

The Gas Standards department develops and administers consistent construction, operating, maintenance policies, procedures, and material specifications to enhance operational excellence across NiSource distribution operations.
As a Gas Standards Engineer, you'll play a critical role in shaping the safety and reliability of our gas system:
* Setting the Standards: Develop and maintain company gas standards for materials, construction practices, operations, and engineering processes across transmission lines, distribution mains, service lines, measurement and regulation stations, underground storage, LNG facilities, and related assets.

* Produce key deliverables such as Gas Standards, Operational Notices, Material Standards, and guidance documents.
* Approve materials and investigate failures by coordinating with Supply Chain and Engineering, evaluating new products, meeting with manufacturers, and conducting root cause analyses.
* Provide technical support for standards-related issues, integrity management programs (DIMP, TIMP, SIMP), and Safety Management System actions.

Manufacturing Process Engineer Job Summary
As a Manufacturing Process Engineer, you are responsible for implementing Continuous Improvement of site manufacturing operations with the goal of increasing value and meeting customer requirements while reducing costs and variation. Experience in lean manufacturing concepts and the ability to think outside of the box will be pivotal to delivering world-class improvements to safety, quality, and process efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Manufacturing Process Engineer
Collaborate with Sales, Service, Production, and Quality/Lean Teams, as well as those from sister facilities to improve cost, quality, and efficiency.
Work with the Operation and HR teams to assist with compliance of all safety, health and environmental regulations and guidelines.
Participate in investigating root causes and implement corrective actions for process issues through 8Ds, NCMs, and other lean tools.
Interpret as well as create technical drawings and CAD models as a backup for parts and tooling.
Participate in post-production gross profit review process to identify opportunities for improvement.
Document and quantify (dollarize) process improvement efforts.
Identify, create, and train on process-related training documents for machine operators and customer service for quoting purposes.
Other activities:
Assist facility manager to prepare project charter and Capex requests to support growth.
Work with Production and Maintenance to scale up process and equipment capacity.
Assist with qualifying new processes, equipment and tools.
Requirements:
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, related field or equivalent work experience.
Familiar with CAD CAM software, CNC equipment.
Problem solving skills including Lean Tools such as 8D, 5 Why, DMAIC A3.
Minimum 2 years of experience improving manufacturing processes and Kaizen.
Preferred
Wood or composites fabrication and or composites materials manufacturing experience.
Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to lead and motivate teams effectively.
Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a timely, cost-effective manner.
Strong Microsoft Office skills for report writing and to analyze data.
Work Environment Manufacturing Process Engineer
This role is performed in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, fumes, and chemicals.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
The position may involve repetitive tasks and manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform manual tasks as required.
