Responsibilities

Qualifications

Requirements
* Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities for SMT-based electronic assemblies in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment, from prototype builds through full-rate production.
* Serve as the primary technical liaison between Design Engineering and Production, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the NPI lifecycle.
* Develop, validate, and document robust SMT manufacturing processes including solder paste printing, pick-and-place, reflow, and automated inspection (AOI/X-ray).
* Work with Design Engineering to drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) reviews to ensure efficient and cost-effective manufacturing.
* Define and recommend tooling, fixtures, and equipment requirements to support complex SMT and mixed-technology PCB assemblies.
* Run NPI manufacturing line on pilot, and low-volume production builds, resolving issues and optimizing the process before handing off to Production.
* Work with Quality and Process Engineering to drive improvements to improve yield and product reliability.
* Make technical recommendations on the procurement of new SMT equipment and technologies to keep pace with new design requirements & industry advancements.
* Ensure compliance with IPC standards, internal quality systems, and applicable customer and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

The Role
As a Machining & Manufacturing Engineer at iRocket, you will own the development, optimization, and scaling of high-precision manufacturing processes for rocket hardware. You will work cross-functionally with design, test, supply chain, and quality teams to mature processes from prototype through production. You will report to the Senior Manager of Manufacturing Engineering.
Develop, validate, and refine machining processes (CNC turning, milling, EDM, grinding, etc.) for rocket components
Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability, offer design for manufacturing (DFM) feedback, and propose design changes where beneficial
Create and maintain manufacturing BOMs, process flows, work instructions, and SOPs
Support installation, calibration, qualification, and commissioning of new machines and tooling
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for production issues and drive corrective and preventive actions
Implement process controls, error-proofing, statistical monitoring, and quality gates
Participate in manufacturability reviews and design reviews to provide input from a manufacturing perspective
Document and drive continuous improvement in process maturity, standardization, and scaling
Support aerospace / defense compliance efforts (e.g. AS9100, aerospace quality standards)
Occasionally support mission-critical deadlines which may require non-standard hours
Requirements
