About this Job:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees/monitors the operation of the Chiller Plant during assigned shift. Ensures the systems are operating at best possible performance levels.
Performs regular maintenance/repairs to the Chiller Plant such as appropriate during shift reporting larger/ more complicated needs to the Forman or Power Plant Engineer I for action by the maintenance crew.
Assists the maintenance/repair crew with scheduled and emergency repairs to the boilers generators chillers and related Facilities Management equipment.
Ensures that assigned areas are operating within all applicable Hospital federal and local governing codes standards and regulations including but not limited to: OSHA NFPA The Joint Commission and Fire and Life Safety practices.
Learns and remains current with the latest applicable federal and local governing codes standards and regulations regarding fire safety plumbing electrical and plant operations including but not limited to: OSHA NFPA The Joint Commission ASHRAE ANSI DCRA D.C. Fire & Safety Codes and the Hospital's Fire and Life Safety practices.

The Industrial Engineer will evaluate current manufacturing practices, manage production schedules, process work flows, enforce quality control, and improve production processes across the 4 public shipyards(PHNS, PSNS, PNSY, and NNSY) on behalf of PMO 555.
This position does not allow for telecommuting and all work will be performed on-site in Washington DC.
**Responsibilities**
The SIOP Industrial Engineer will also be actively involved in the management of Modeling and Simulation (MODSIM) efforts across the shipyards to track layouts, floor plans, and equipment staging to ensure lean, streamlined access and up-to-date logs (utilizing RFID or other tracking tools).
Job duties include but are not limited to:
+ Use of both basic and advanced calculations to determine the current and potential productivity of a process. The ability to use calculus, trigonometry, algebra and other types of math is important in this position.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary for an Industrial Engineer. They must be aware of a business's needs while making technical recommendations understandable.
+ Good leadership skills assist the Industrial Engineer in implementing productivity changes. The ability to develop relationships with coworkers is useful when making recommendations.
+ Ability to create viable solutions for a variety of challenges. Whether it is to improve the production of a certain product or to reduce waste (industrial or time), the ability to develop a plan to overcome the problem is important.

**Qualifications**

As a key contributor to the Sales Process and Performance team, you will lead efforts to evaluate, redesign, and optimize sales-related processes to enhance operational efficiency, client engagement, and business outcomes. The Process Re-Engineer - Sales Process and Performance role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:
Lead collaboration with Client Engagement, Risk, Servicing, and Technology teams to conduct stakeholder analysis to understand current pain points and gain insights into process challenges.
Create visual representations of workflows using techniques such as flow charts to highlight areas of bottlenecks and opportunities of efficiency.
Apply process improvement & re-engineering methodologies to design and implement scalable, efficient, and compliant processes.
Translate data-driven insights into actionable process enhancements that support organizational goals and improve client experience.
Develop and maintain process documentation, including workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and performance metrics.
Consult on process design best practices and effectively lead change management initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Advise on the methodology of and monitor the impact of implemented changes and provide regular updates to leadership on performance outcomes and areas for further optimization.

The Process Engineer II provides engineering support for the Blue Plains Wastewater Treatment (WWT) Plant; evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of all treatment processes and develops and implements procedures and methods to control plant performance. Responsible for Operations, Process Controls, Maintenance and Asset Management for the WWT Plant. Conducts process studies and evaluates new products, processes, and techniques used in wastewater treatment processes. Develops feasibility proposals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Duties within the scope of the practice of engineering will be performed under the responsible charge of a District of Columbia licensed PE as defined in D.C. Official Code Section 47-2853.131. Scope of practice for engineers:
For the purposes of this part, the term “practice of engineering” means the application of special knowledge of the mathematical, physical and engineering sciences and the methods of engineering analysis and design in the performance of services and creative work including consultation, investigation, expert technical testimony, evaluation, planning, design and design coordination of engineering works and systems, planning the use of land and water, performing engineering surveys and studies, and the review of construction for the purpose of monitoring compliance with drawings and specifications, in connection with any utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment, processes, work systems, projects, and industrial or consumer products, or equipment of a control systems, communications, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or thermal nature, that may involve safeguarding life, health, or property, and including such other professional services as may be necessary to the planning, progress, and completion of any engineering services.

Establishes, demonstrates and enforces high standards for safety, quality of work performed, and productivity; inspects work quality. Reports all hazards to the appropriate supervisor to ensure that safety and environmental hazards are corrected.
May also serve as Regulations Compliance Engineer, which includes other duties as assigned, such as managing a portion of the industrial pre-treatment program and ensuring compliance with the industrial storm water management program, the Clean Air Act, OSHA and EPA regulations, etc.

Required Experience:
Knowledge of general wastewater treatment plant practices, including knowledge of occupational hazards and the necessity for adherence to safety precautions; Knowledge of applicable regulations, such as EPA and OSHA requirements.
Knowledge of conventional methods and techniques used in engineering, chemical, and biological applications.
A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience related to wastewater treatment processes.
Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related field of study from an ABET accredited college or university.

A District of Columbia Professional Engineering (PE) License is required at the time of hire.
