Key Responsibilities: * Contract and Drawing Analysis: Analyze government contracts, technical drawings, and specifications to understand all requirements, ensuring they are effectively translated into manufacturing process sheets and routings. * Process Routing Creation: Develop and maintain detailed manufacturing process routings, ensuring each step in the production process is clearly defined and aligned with the contractual requirements. * Collaboration with Engineering and Operations: Work closely with production and operations teams to create detailed process flows, ensuring that all technical and production specifications are accurately captured and executed. * Manufacturing Documentation: Create, modify, and review technical documentation (such as process sheets, work instructions, and manufacturing routings) to ensure that all necessary information is available for the production team. * Government Certifications and Compliance: Ensure that process sheets and routings are compliant with all relevant government regulations and certifications (e.g., FAR, DFARS, ITAR), and ensure that the manufacturing process aligns with the contract terms. * Contract Modifications and Revisions: Implement changes to process sheets and routings based on contract amendments or government requirements, ensuring that all updates are accurately reflected in manufacturing documents. * Liaison with Government Agencies and Internal Teams: Serve as a key point of contact between internal teams and government representatives to clarify contract specifications, resolve discrepancies, and ensure alignment between contract terms and manufacturing processes. * Quality Control and Auditing: Support quality control and audits by ensuring that all manufacturing documentation is up to date, accurate, and aligned with contract requirements. * Proposal Support: Assist in the preparation of proposals for government contracts, ensuring that process sheets, routings, and other manufacturing documentation are properly prepared and aligned with proposed deliverables. * Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving the manufacturing process and increase efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality, ensuring that all processes align with contractual obligations and manufacturing capabilities. This is a unique opportunity to grow into a frontline operations leadership role by first mastering our engineering processes. You'll begin with a 6-month immersion in Engineering, gaining deep knowledge of our products, systems, and quality standards. After that, you'll transition to lead our Wire Manufacturing operations, overseeing 3 wire draw machines, 79 knitting machines, and 6 respooling machines across 3 shifts. What You'll Do Phase 1: Engineering Immersion (First 6 Months) Learn our products, processes, and quality systems from the ground up. Apply Lean and Six Sigma tools to drive continuous improvement. Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions. Monitor equipment calibration and preventive maintenance schedules. Collaborate cross-functionally to implement process enhancements. Phase 2: Wire Manufacturing Leadership Lead daily operations across wire drawing, knitting, and respooling. Manage production schedules and resource planning across 3 shifts. Drive performance in safety, quality, throughput, and scrap reduction. Lead and coach a multi-shift team with a focus on accountability and collaboration. Analyze data to identify trends and implement process improvements. Pay Range: $31.92-$52.66 Onsite: Providence, RI Permanent role SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Chief Engineer-Power Plant, the Lead Power Plant Engineer provides assistance in supervising, planning, inspecting, monitoring, scheduling and coordinating daily power plant activities. Controls, monitors and repairs boilers, turbines, generators and auxiliary power generating plant equipment. As delegated, schedules the repair and maintenance of high- pressure steam boiler, turbo-generator, medical waste incinerators and ancillary equipment that produces energy for end users. Assumes supervisory responsibility and authority in the absence of Chief Engineer, Power Plant. Maintains close surveillance of bearing temperatures of generator shafts, oil and steam pressures and turbogenerator temperatures and related valves. Identifies problems and makes necessary adjustments to bring temperature and readings within normal ranges. Checks and lubricates pumps, condensers, and air ejectors; check joints for leaks and make repairs. Anticipates power needs, such as those caused by changes in the weather or power supplied by the utility company and starts or stops generator(s) to bring energy production into balance with hospital needs. Records relevant events and facts concerning power plant operations and maintenance. Takes and records gauge and meter readings, including the amount of electricity produced by each generator and power received from the utility company. Maintains and monitors air conditioning tower water levels and operating conditions, adds chemicals to monitor harmful bacteria and viruses conditions and to prevent equipment corrosion. Maintains machinery history logs and records such as time worked on projects and employee attendance. Performs duties of subordinate personnel and performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Minimum of two years Associates Degree or equivalent in mechanical, electrical or related discipline. Completion of two years training in boiler operations and turbo-generator operations generally acquired from a technical school or military service. Requires Stationary Operating Engineer's License from the City of Providence. Supervisory skills to effectively direct the work of others. Analytical ability to plan, schedule and coordinate work projects and to troubleshoot problems. Knowledge of the thermodynamics of steam, the principals of generators and electricity. Knowledge of relevant code requirements and regulations. Working knowledge of a design application (AutoCAD) system preferred. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years Power Plant operation experience. Works in areas exposed to electrical, heating and cooling equipment where there is exposure to noise, heat, asbestos, caustic chemicals, etc. and possibility medical waste. Hazards and injuries are minimized by adherence to established safety precautions. Physical ability to climb ladders, carry tools and move and lift equipment, chemical containers and other materials.
