Franklin Township School infant room teacher job description

An Infant/Toddler Assistant Caregiver is an individual who assists the lead in helping ensure that each and every one of our student's individual needs are met. The assistant must have a passion for serving young children. The assistant must be willing to take directives from a supervising lead and/or building administrator. The Assistant will be asked to engage in a wide variety of events during the day-to-day workings of the school ranging from, but not limited to assisting children in daily activities, feeding, learn self-care routines (bathroom, hygiene, etc.), and facilitating play and language development. The classroom assistant will also be asked to assist in diapering, cleaning, and sanitization routines in order to comply with the regulations of a licensed Childcare Facility.
Hours: 11:45-5:30 PM Monday-Friday



Duties



Provide care to meet children's basic needs as well as supporting learning experiences Assists in maintaining an environment, routine, and structure to support and care for all children and their own individual needs Routinely acknowledges children and provides positive attention in varying ways Ensures each child is challenged to move towards the next level of independence Wipe down / sanitize equipment or materials prior to and after a student uses the item(s) Assist students during classroom activities, meals, rest times, snacks, diapering, and play Maintain constant supervision of students assigned to him/her and assure student safety Provide support and ongoing communication with the supervising teacher, completing assigned tasks from classroom lead and director Communicate with families in a positive manner regarding their child's day. Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position. Complies with Indiana's Licensed Childcare Center regulations Complete required training including annual first aid/CPR, health and safety, and others as deemed necessary for the position.



Requirements



Must be 21 or older A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent. Must complete pre-employment requirements for a licensed childcare center: drug screen, physical, TB test, and fingerprint background check. The ability to meet the physical demands of stooping, kneeling, sitting in low/small chairs or the floor, and transferring/lifting/ carrying a child. The stamina to maintain an appropriate energy level to sustain the full instructional day. Good teamwork, communication, and organizational skills. Sufficient patience and commitment to ensure academic success for all students.
