Small full-service payroll company hiring a full-time Payroll Specialist. The Payroll Specialist is accountable and responsible for all aspects of quality service for clients. Contacts and assists clients in process of obtaining information for payroll production and tax related issues; verifies totals, responds to/resolves client questions and problems and delivers quality customer service. Participate in conducting training sessions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Maintaining a base of payroll clients relevant to size and complexity on all products
Contacting clients daily to obtain payroll data including salary adjustments, special payments, tax allocations and employee deductions, and to set schedules
Accurately keying all payroll related data necessary to process and meet appointment schedules
Maintaining a high rate of client retention through quality service
Keeping abreast of the payroll processing system and changes in wage and tax laws, and corresponding with federal, state, and local tax agencies on behalf of our clients
Maintaining client files
Researching and resolving client/system problems
Establishing and maintaining a positive working relationship with clients, agencies, and coworkers to promote a quality service image
Participating in conducting training sessions
Performing other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or three or more years of office-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws strongly encouraged
Proven facility in MS Office, data entry and office equipment
Proven facility in customer service, and problem resolution
Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable
Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills
Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills
Excellent interpersonal skills

Who You Are
10+ years of experience in enterprise-level customer support, with a track record of managing and scaling regional or global support organizations (50+ FTE).
Experience leading B2B technical support functions in complex environments; ideally in fast-growth or scale-up stages.
Deep familiarity with ticketing systems such as Salesforce Service Cloud.
A strategic thinker who can translate customer feedback and performance data into long-term plans.
A collaborative, low-ego leader who builds strong relationships across functions and regions.
Curious and adaptive-you listen first, understand context, and approach change with both empathy and conviction.
Based in (or willing to relocate to) Chicago to be close to your team and regional stakeholders.
Compensation
We offer a competitive compensation package that includes both a base salary and equity in the form of RSUs. Base salary ranges are location-dependent:

Staff Engineer - Financial Products
In this role, you will be a technical leader and trusted advisor, shaping the architecture, design, and execution of critical systems that power Adyen's global financial products. You'll work closely with engineering teams, product partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to solve complex technical challenges, drive technical excellence, and ensure our solutions scale with the needs of our global business. Scale and expand our foundation that supports the needs of all Adyen products;

Who you are
Must have:
2+ years of experience in the financial industry, preferably in the banking or fintech sector;
10+ years of hands-on development experience in a modern engineering environment;
Technical leadership experience, including mentoring engineers and leading an engineering strategy;
Hands-on experience designing and building large scale distributed systems;
Strong background and hands-on experience coding with Java;
Platform mindset. Able to generalize complex processes and create simple and flexible services to support multiple products;
Proactive relationship-builder with strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with diverse stakeholders across cultures;
Self-starter who can identify problems and figure out solutions
