POSITION PURPOSE:
Performs complex level work in repairing, maintaining, and programming elevators and chairlifts located within a Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) facilities. Provides technical specialist experience in the monitoring of construction and installation of new and replacement elevators and chairlifts at schools. Provides technical guidance and assistance to less skilled employees and assists in the training of employees. Ensures elevators and chairlifts are performing at their optimal efficiency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
Extensive knowledge in servicing elevators and chairlifts;
Considerable knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards;
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel; Google Apps;
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent;
Ten years of experience directly related to elevator and chairlift installation and repair;
Experience in servicing elevators and chairlifts, including software updates;
Experience with multiple elevator manufacturers;
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Hold a valid Electrical License (SP-EL) and/or accredited certifications;
Within twelve months of employment complete safety training according to OSHA standards;
Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of NC requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Factory certification by one or more elevator manufacturers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs complex level work in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting elevators and chairlifts within WCPSS.

Prepares and maintains records, work logs, and reports, as needed.
Adheres to laws, regulations, and requirements set forth in the WCPSS safety procedures/policies.
Maintains compliance and adherence to all safety procedures, occupational health practices, and maintaining a safe work environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in in an indoor and outdoor environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, hand/power tools, etc. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, contractors, vendors, and external agencies. Work is considered heavy physical work, requiring the exertion of up to seventy-five pounds of force. The work requires the ability to operate automotive equipment. Frequent exposure to hazardous materials, gases, and chemicals, moving parts, and inclement weather conditions.

About the Team: The Labcorp IT Enterprise Architecture department is responsible for defining and maintaining the strategic technology roadmap that aligns with the organization's business goals. It provides governance, standards, and architectural guidance across infrastructure, applications, data, and security domains to ensure scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions. The team collaborates with stakeholders across IT and business units to evaluate emerging technologies, drive innovation, and support enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives.
Internship Assignment Summary:
Assist in documenting and refining enterprise architecture standards, principles, and reference models.
Participate in technology assessments and evaluations of emerging tools and platforms.
Support the development of architectural diagrams and roadmaps for key business initiatives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and align IT solutions with business strategies.
Gain exposure to cloud architecture, data governance, cybersecurity frameworks, and application lifecycle management.
Attend architecture review boards and contributed to discussions on solution design and compliance.
Learn how to apply enterprise architecture methodologies such as TOGAF and Zachman Framework.
Develop communication and presentation skills by preparing reports and sharing findings with senior architects.
Acquire hands-on experience with tools like ServiceNow, Lucidchart, and enterprise modeling platforms.
Build a foundational understanding of how strategic IT decisions impact business operations and innovation.
Education/Qualifications/Skills:
Education
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
Coursework in enterprise architecture, systems design, cloud computing, or IT strategy is a plus.
Qualifications
Strong academic performance with a demonstrated interest in enterprise-level IT systems and architecture.
Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or FEAF.
Understanding of IT infrastructure, application development, data management, and cybersecurity principles.
Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and modern integration technologies.

Skills
Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
Proficiency in tools such as Lucidchart, Visio, ServiceNow, or similar modeling and documentation platforms.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
