GUIDELINES AND SUPERVISION: The IT support specialist I reports to the CIO and operates as part of the CT team but executing work for faculty, staff and students at Converse University. Under general supervision this specialist responds to and diagnoses problems through discussions with users. Work is characterized as solving known issues that can be escalated to a higher level when necessary (mid-level). The work will be completed in an independent way. The Specialist will oversee student workers.
Work Schedule:
Monday-Thursday 8:00-5:00, Friday 8:00-1:00

Corvid is seeking highly skilled interns for the Summer of 2026 who are interested in growing their skills in technology. This paid internship presents a unique opportunity for aspiring professionals to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment. We are looking for talented candidates pursuing a Computer Science degree, with a conditional job offer (based on performance) in one of the following fields:
Windows Administration
Linux Administration
Help Desk Support
High Performance Computing Administration
Data Center Technician
Throughout the summer, dive into on-the-job training covering a wide range of disciplines, including Windows and Linux system administration/engineering, scripting and automation, security best-practices, HPC systems management for our 85,000+ core supercomputer, and data center operations. Each rotation pairs participants with an expert mentor with years of experience in their respective field. The internship program goes beyond providing mentorship and valuable learning experiences; it also offers opportunities for interns to connect with their peers through exciting social events, such as catered lunch presentations showcasing engineering expertise across the company.

Who We Want:
We are seeking motivated self-starters who enjoy formulating elegant solutions to difficult problems. To be successful in this position, a candidate will ask lots of questions, be a strong proponent of continuous change, pay attention to detail and take initiative to identify current problems and find a way to solve them. Extra points for background knowledge in Linux, numerical modeling and simulation, and computational cluster support.
Previous Projects:
Setup a high-performance computing (HPC) cluster
Automate offline third-party application updates for Corvid's classified networks
Develop binary installers for in house module deployment/configuration
R&D high availability for BeeGFS, Corvid's current HPC storage solution
Construct HPC pods & racks to extend Corvid's primary supercomputer
Assist technicians with the maintenance and configuration of our HPC's water circuit, power circuit, PDUs, CDUs, and HVAC equipment
Required Qualifications:
Pursuing a BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
Scripting experience (Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar)
Minimum GPA: 3.5
Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
Strong desire and ability to learn
Good communicator with strategic, analytical, and creative thinking skills
Ability to thrive in an extremely fast paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Object-oriented programming experience
Experience in scripting/automation
Experience submitting jobs to a scheduled cluster
