Job DescriptionI.Responsible for IT budget. Serves as primary purchaser/buyer for the IT department. Administers internal supplies for the division; submits and disburses orders; prepare returns and schedule pick up as needed. Submit support requests for warranty repairs and purchase parts to repair and maintain computers, printers, audio-visual equipment, and other miscellaneous equipment.

II.Manages the day-to-day operations of the Information Technology Department. Provides administrative support to the CIO and divisional staff managing information flow, project oversight, communication, scheduling, and travel.

III.Provides follow-up to requests made to the CIO, obtaining specific details and clarification in regard to company issues and concerns.
IV.Manages the CIO’s commitments and acts as a liaison between ITD and other departments.

V.Serves as a liaison with vendors and company departments. Provides guidance throughout the process by acquiring quotes, preparing requisitions, placing orders, and receiving and disbursing the equipment.

VI.Responds to inquiries regarding orders and confers with vendors and internal personnel to exchange information and resolve problems encountered.

VII.Monitors deliveries from the storekeeper, marching orders to the packing slip and distributing to the proper IT staff for setup and delivery.

VIII.Maintains all software/vendor records to support proof of purchase, pertinent certificates, and maintenance and license agreements. Maintains a physical library of software products.

IX.Creates contracts using the client’s Interview Exchange program to obtain signatures and state forms.

X.Manages employee accounts using Active Directory to create, reset, or expire accounts. Partners with Human Resources to disseminate the IT Acceptable Use Policy, account information, and login instructions to the staff member and supervisor.

XI.Assures new staff is provided with the proper phone and computer technology by coordinating with the staff supervisor. Initiates the appropriate job request to the Help Desk. Provides direction to technical staff as needed to complete tasks submitted through the help desk.

XII.Prepares and maintains IT-related policy and procedure guides, Acceptable Use Policies, and compliance documentation for auditing purposes.

XIII.Responsible for drafting, proofreading, and editing documents, formatting presentations, and managing ITD and CIO calendars.

XIV.Coordinate dissemination of information security information to the company. Set up a security training system and monitor completion rates. Publish alerts regarding security threats and maintain spam identification resources on the website.

XV.Create and maintain electronic forms for departments as requested. Support implementation of electronic account and work order forms for ITD Applications and Services departments.

XVI.Engage with software vendors for product information, coordinate demonstrations for appropriate groups of users, and consult client references.

XVII. University of Virginia information systems technician job description

The Department of Facilities Management is seeking a student help desk tech to work with existing team members to support Facilities Management's fleet of PC's and mobile devices. The help desk tech will provide technical support to the Facilities Management community to resolve first and second-tier desktop software, hardware, and communications issues in an efficient and timely manner. Accurately document request history. Triage and route advanced second and third-tier requests to the appropriate technical personnel. Provide timely resolution of problem or escalation on behalf of the user by maintaining strong working relationships with IT professionals in areas such as network services, software systems engineers, and application developers.
Duties include:

Provide end-users with timely, quality support (both by telephone and in person). Provide microcomputer hardware/software support, peripheral support, and smartphone configuration/support. Provide basic network support


Required Skills:

Have a valid Virginia driver's license Have basic knowledge of PC's running Windows 10 Operating System & Microsoft Office Suite O365 Basic smartphone knowledge Ability to work in a team environment Excellent phone communication skills Preferred Skills (not required): Build and deploy PC's Candidates should have a positive attitude, and be highly organized, & reliable.


An ideal candidate could work 20 hrs/week during the school year but realistically 12-15 hrs is more realistic. We are flexible and realize that you are a student first. Full -time hours are available during the summer months.
