When most people think of tech workers, they think of nerdy guys hunched in a room working with computers all day, usually with very few people skills. However, working with clients and interacting with people is a very important role within an IT company. Often, that is the job of the Informational Technology account manager.

The Informational Technology account manager manages client accounts for the tech company that they work for by coordinating communication, advising clients, and managing client data. This is a very important job because the Informational Technology account manager makes sure that the company's product actually gets to the people who need it and meets their requirements.

The IT account manager needs to understand the technology they are working with, which is why many hold bachelor's or master's degrees. They also need to know a lot about working with people since they have such an important role as the link between a software product and the clients that use it.

What general advice would you give to an information technology account manager?

I have spent almost two decades in the higher education industry and about a decade in administration. I often advised students, and it is astonishing to see how many of these students do not plan for their future. A good plan is a starting point to lead a good and successful career and life. Hence, by all means, it is worth noting that developing a future-oriented focus is important, so taking time to streamline the plan should be an important exercise for every graduate before they begin to do anything.
