What You'll Do:
Engineer and operate modern security platforms.
Implement, run, and optimize enterprise-level security tooling across detection, identity, cloud, endpoint, and governance technologies.
Conduct deep-dive security assessments.
Evaluate systems, configurations, and architecture through hands-on testing and analysis-delivering actionable insights that directly influence engineering and business decisions.
Cloud Platform Focus:
The client operates in a hybrid environment, primarily in Azure, with some AWS and on-prem infrastructure.
Core Security Tooling:
SentinelOne experience is preferred, but candidates with experience using other tools are strongly considered as long as they have solid, overarching experience across SIEM, EDR, and vulnerability management platforms.

Malware response and remediation
Vulnerability management and patch governance
SIEM log analysis, correlation, and monitoring

What You Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or equivalent experience
3-5 years of hands-on experience in information security, IT operations, or adjacent engineering roles; experience in financial services is a plus.
Familiarity with modern security tools, frameworks, and standards (SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners, CIS, NIST, ISO 27001).
Familiarity with identity and access management (IAM) solutions, such as Okta, including integration with applications and security systems.
Experience with automation, including scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) to streamline security processes, workflows, and response actions.

Position Summary:
This position would provide support to KDADS /HS-EBIT Help Desk, responsible for software license inventory/tracking; KDADS web application security, new hire/termination paperwork and Aspen/iQIES support.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Help Desk
This position has responsibility to cover the KDADS Computer Help Desk. This function serves as the initial contact for users reporting problems with the various IT systems used by the agency and outside agency users. This function includes the reporting by phone, voicemail, email, system requests and face to face contact. This position responds to errors and questions from users and performs initial troubleshooting activities to determine the type of assistance needed. The needed assistance or needed repairs could be administered by this staff themselves or dispatches appropriate staff including internal/external entities including HS-EBIT, and OITS Central Office to resolve the issue or answer questions. This position will also do some administration/troubleshooting duties for KDADS Web Applications, Aspen/iQIES, Outlook email, Windows Active Directory and Network Operating Systems. There will be troubleshooting of various agency software suites, and software applications as needed. The incumbent is one of the primary KDADS Web application support for KDADS staff and non-state users. This position will follow up with testing the completed repairs to ensure that they are appropriate and provide the needed relief from the reported problem.
KDADS Web Applications Security/Roles
This position is responsible for processing security agreements and setting up KDADS web application security/roles access to users. This includes KDADS staff along with all external KDADS web application users.
Software License Inventory/Tracking
This position is responsible for the KDADS software, software records, inventory and tracking.
ASPEN/IMAGENOW Backup
This position is designated as support for Aspen/iQIES and ImageNow support as needed.
New Hire/Termination Paperwork
This position is responsible for processing the paperwork needed for new hire/termination that IT staff need for user accounts, equipment and inventory.
Minimum Requirements:
* High School Diploma or equivalent and three months experience installing software on microcomputer systems and using word processing, database or spreadsheet applications.
* Requires light physical exertion.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
* The incumbent may be required to move and load onto carts or into vehicles lightweight or easily moved items (e.g., books, file folders, boxes of office supplies and other office equipment) and computer components (desktop and tower cases, monitors, servers, printers and small attachments such as keyboards and mice); operate light equipment; and perform repetitive motions for brief periods. The unpacking, de-crating, and/or moving of new computer equipment is required as assigned.

Job Duties - Responsibilities Tasks
Corporate Security
Research current industry cybersecurity best practices. Develop a strategy and lead the implementation of the best cybersecurity practice standards accordingly.
Prepare and report security metrics (KPIs) at defined intervals based on the adopted cybersecurity framework (CSC 18, NIST, SANS, etc.) and identified baselines.
Implement and facilitate a cyber security awareness user training program for all employees. Define, develop and present performance metrics associated to the training to report the progress and performance of the company.
Monitor computer networks and devices for security issues and compliance with defined security standards including but not limited to missing and installed patches, hardened baselines, hardened software configurations, and known vulnerability mitigations.
Defend systems against unauthorized access.
Either directly or by working in conjunction with IT Department members, install cybersecurity measures by configuring, supporting, and operating software and solutions to protect systems, corporate software and information infrastructure, including firewalls and antivirus/antimalware and IDS/IPS software.
Alert Midwest Energy employees when a new dangerous threat is identified by the cybersecurity community that cannot be mitigated through technology.
Perform active Threat hunting, looking for indicators of threats and indicators of compromise.
Perform network vulnerability assessments through periodic visits (as prescribed by the V.P. Information Technology) to the Kansas Intelligence Fusion Center and communicate assessment results with the V.P. Information Technology.
Perform internal vulnerability assessments and plan a strategy for remediation.
Review and update the Corporate Cybersecurity Incident Response (IR) Plan and associated IR Playbooks defining the process used to investigate security breaches and other cyber security incidents.
Document security breaches and assess the damage caused as laid out in the Corporate Cybersecurity Incident Response Plan.
Organize and execute an annual penetration test with an outside firm. Work with the other members of the IT Dept. to remediate any weakness.
Assist in the purchase of cybersecurity related IT hardware and software.
As Midwest Energy is required by the North American Electric Reliability Corp. (NERC) and the relevant Reliability Entity to adhere to internal standards, procedures, and maintenance practices related to Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), the Corporate Network and Corporate Data Center infrastructure might, on occasion, be impacted by these compliance standards. This position will assist in the compliance measures as they relate to the Corporate Network and Corporate Data Center infrastructure.
Leadership
Lead and champion the implementation of the corporate defined security program set forth by the Center for Internet Security (CIS) and defined as the 18 Critical Security Controls (CSC 18) or any other adopted security framework such as NIST, SANS, etc.
Act as the Incident Response (IR) Coordinator as defined by the Corporate Cybersecurity Incident Response Plan. Coordinate the mitigation and remediation of detected vulnerabilities with the cooperation of applicable IT Department team members to maintain a high security standard.
Coordinate and/or lead tabletop exercises to test the Incidence Response plan and associated IR Playbooks. Revise the IR plan and IR Playbooks if necessary and review with the team.
Lead and champion the Technology Roadmap initiatives assigned to the Datacenter Engineers. Act as a project lead, core team member and/or subject matter expert as assigned. Assist in the evaluation and definition of new Technology Roadmap initiatives.
