Position Overview
We are seeking a talented Systems Engineer with 3-5 years of hands-on experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining mission-critical IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will join our systems engineering team in Willowbrook, Illinois, reporting directly to our Systems Engineering & Information Technology Manager. Due to the sensitive nature of our work, U.S. Citizenship and the ability to pass a rigorous background investigation, drug screening, and working on location are required.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and support VMware-virtualized and bare-metal Windows and Linux server environments, ensuring high availability and security.
• Maintain and expand corporate IT environment, including Active Directory, Entra, Azure, Intune, SentinelOne, and other enterprise-level solutions.
• Configure and maintain network infrastructure such as routers, switches, and firewalls from Ubiquiti, Cisco, Fortigate, and Netgear.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools (Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, etc.) for system provisioning and configuration management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate virtualization (vSphere, Hyper-V), containerization (Docker), and cloud-based resources when applicable.
• Assist in cybersecurity assessments, vulnerability scanning, and remediation; documenting findings in line with NRC RG 5.71, NEI 08-09, and industry best practices.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
• Configuration of Active Directory, including group policy, and integrating Azure SAML authentication with other vendors.
• Configuration and troubleshooting a diverse spectrum of IoT devices such as cameras, motion sensors, and industrial automation appliances.
• Supporting day-to-day IT operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system, network, and application issues promptly.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 3-5 years of professional experience in systems engineering, with demonstrated Windows and Linux server administration expertise.
• 3-5 years of professional experience in virtualization and/or containerization, VMware VCP certifications are a plus.
• Proficient with networking, switching, and routing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Entra (Azure AD), Microsoft 365, and Active Directory.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Superior communication skills, both written and verbal. Desired Skills
