Network Technology Specialist
Schedule: Hybrid - 2/3 days in office (Dallas) and 2/3 days remote
Pay Range: $33 - $38/hr
Industry: Large electric/utilities company
Contract: 6 months + (high likelihood of extending)
Summary
We are seeking a Network Technology Specialist to serve in a key role managing our Advanced Metering System (AMS) RF mesh network. The ideal candidate will provide expertise across a broad range of responsibilities while working independently under normal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain documentation for network hardware systems and procedures in the document database
Create work requests, track material assignments, and schedule work using enterprise management systems
Conduct router and collector surveys, develop installation designs, and integrate material requirements with work management systems
Lead problem resolution efforts with a focus on first-attempt resolution and root cause analysis
Collaborate across departments to troubleshoot and resolve communications issues affecting meters, routers, collectors, modems, and other communications devices
Oversee firmware upgrades for approximately 3.7 million meters, routers, and collectors across the network infrastructure
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain IT safety standards
Coordinate with field technicians on troubleshooting, scheduling, and testing activities
Provide technical support for distribution automation devices utilizing the AMS RF Mesh Network
Required Qualifications
Technical or Advanced degree
Strong understanding of telecommunications network design and architecture
Knowledge of equipment technologies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
Comprehensive IT knowledge and troubleshooting skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
Experience with SQL or other database management languages
Familiarity with SharePoint and Internet/Intranet applications
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with work management information systems
Knowledge of advanced engineering geographic information systems
Proficiency in Tableau or similar data visualization tools
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to:
