Responsibilities
About the Team: Enterprise continuously strives to modernize our solutions to keep pace with the competitive market and the dynamic needs for data across the company's technology solutions and business functions. Our team is responsible for executing the technology portion of the Data Strategy IT pillar. Over the next 24-36 months, this team will work closely with technology leaders, the Data & Analytics business team and industry partners to implement new solutions for data reporting and analytics, data governance and management, and data engineering. The Enterprise Data Lake team within Data Engineering will be responsible for the implementation, administration, operational integrity, and performance of our new cloud-based data solutions. This work is reflective of a significant technology inflection point as it reflects moving our data solutions from a back-office function primarily supporting reporting to one in which our data assets are the core representation of the state of our business. This role assists in maturation and maintaining a centralized process for IT sourcing, procurement, and vendor management, distribution and tracking of corporate assets, and functions as a point of contact in technology matters and problem resolution relating to software/hardware purchases. Attends project meetings and compiles information for the purpose of analyzing vendor price across the competition and according to industry standards and best practices. The IT Commodity Manager will coordinate activities between internal customers and suppliers; manage their workload as assigned, within business areas, and negotiate price under the supervision of the Senior Manager of IT Contracts and Vendor Management. This role will track historical and on-going spend, vendor performance and cost savings, and support IT Sourcing in the areas of administration, asset management, contract management and vendor management.

Performing analysis of a multitude of Information Technology related commodities (Software, Saad, IaaS, PaaS, Equipment, Hardware, Professional Services, etc.). Lead sourcing processes in a matrixed environment including RFI/RFP's and single source negotiations or renegotiations: Sourcing and procurement functions include but not limited to preparing market research, sourcing templates, spreadsheets, reviewing specifications, statements of work, contracts.
Create evaluations models and assist stakeholders in evaluation during formal, informal, and sole source solicitations.
Lead challenging negotiations with the software industry and analyzing complicated licensing models (like on-premise, subscriptions, hosted and cloud) for department wide to enterprise use license agreements of software & professional services for application services for Smithfield with any range of vendors:
With guidance from subject matter experts an applicable leadership team as necessary and makes recommendations for vendor selection.
On vendor pricing and discounts, licensing terms, Statements of Work, Service Level Agreements, Licensing, and maintenance agreements, etc.
Working collaboratively with suppliers and customer stakeholders to identify and execute vendor negotiations and service improvement.
Assist in developing sourcing plans, benchmarking suppliers, contracts, and services and evaluating various Business Unit level requirements, existing opportunities, or new initiatives, including but not limited to setting sourcing strategies and executing those strategies to deliver material improvements on quality, value, contract, price, and service.
Implement effective processes to improve contract adoption and compliance across operating locations. Analyze business processes and identify opportunities to increase efficiency while reducing costs. Identifies and recommends cost savings opportunities through data analysis.
Develop and implementing short- and long-term strategies in regard suppliers, pricing models & cost out initiatives.
Identify cost out initiatives and influence stakeholders to implement them.
Stays current with relevant advances in technologies. Responsible for maintaining and updating knowledge of IT policies and procedures, hardware, software, and technical services. This can include on-the-job training, attending technical courses or conferences, reading, research, and testing. Develops and follows best practices and procedures and share knowledge with team members.
Demonstrates skill development by actively participating in growth opportunities for continuous development and improvement and applying new skills/knowledge to the job as evident by the ability to perform assigned duties efficiently and effectively, resulting in meeting or exceeding customer expectations and performance metrics.
