PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The Assistant Director of InformationTechnology assists The Director in the direction and supervision of IT staff, the management of IT functions and systems operations as well as the delivery of IT services to county end-users.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and four years of related work experience in the field of Informationtechnology, some of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Works in close collaboration with the Director of InformationTechnology in providing leadership, direction, and guidance to staff and managing operational activities to achieve the department's long and short-range goals and business objectives.
Assists the Director of InformationTechnology in formulating and implementing policies, procedures, and standards. Implements and manages customer support and technical services support models that address and bring resolution to the technical needs of the county.
Takes a lead role in project management for new system implementations, expansions, replacements, and upgrades. Must interact regularly with other departments, vendors, contractors, and other parties.
Analyze, develop, and recommend plans and solutions to network, operational, management, business process, telecommunications, and Data Center operations services including hardware and software activities and associated problems.
Analyze, create, test, modify and/or implement computer hardware and software applications for all county departments; makes computer configuration changes at the system level to maintain a high level of workload performance for all users.
Interfaces directly with management and computer users at all levels to define system requirements and database data sets.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with departmental operations, per established procedures and within designated timeframes; distributes documentation or maintains records as appropriate.
Compiles and/or tracks various administrative and/or statistical data pertaining to departmental operations; performs basic research as needed; makes applicable calculations; prepares and generates reports; maintains records.
Receives various documentation; reviews, processes, responds, forwards, maintains, and/or takes other action as appropriate.
Maintains a working knowledge of various software programs to operate a computer in an efficient and effective manner.
On call support 24/7 on a rotation
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of various operating systems, security access, operations security, office 365 administration, and database services.
Understanding and experience with Network infrastructure management, VLAN management, IP routing technology, firewall management, and IP subnetting.
Wide range of experience with hardware and software maintenance/troubleshooting
Excellent communication and organizational skills

This individual will lead the Geospatial Technology group within the Digital Engineering Solutions team, helping to drive strategic architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) initiatives through advances in GIS and mapping technologies, reality capture, remote sensing, the internet of things (IoT)/sensors, and custom solutions and workflows for AEC professionals. The Geospatial Technology group will lead the firm in best practices for these types of technologies, helping to set the CDM Smith Way for our AEC design, planning, and construction practices, while also keeping the firm ahead of the curve with new and emerging technologies in this space, including the geospatial technology elements of digital twins. This position is for a person who has demonstrated leadership capabilities, is business savvy, experienced with geospatial technologies for the AEC industry, and enjoys framing a problem, shaping and creating solutions, and helping to lead and champion implementation.
