In this role, you'll be part of the team that builds Meta's global data center roadmap, develops end to end infrastructure scaling strategies, and develops plans to drive efficiency in our infrastructure that set the direction for one of the fastest growing platforms in the world. As a Data Center Strategy & Planning Manager, you will be accountable for driving investment decisions that cover billions of dollars and help scale our data center footprint efficiently to meet our growing product and service needs. This is a unique opportunity where you will be responsible for developing and leading transformational strategic initiatives and capacity programs from inception, evaluating trade-offs, and driving recommendations to executive leadership, and taking them through implementation. This is an individual contributor role, where you're at home rolling up the sleeves and being in the details, as well as being experienced to think big picture, project manage complex initiatives, and influence partner teams to change the status quo. This is a highly cross functional role where you will be expected to partner with our data center capacity stakeholders (capacity engineering, network engineering, construction, site selection, site & facility operations, network, finance). Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in a directly related field, or equivalent practical experience * Bachelor's degree in a management, technical or engineering field * 16+ years of experience working in Infrastructure/Cloud/Hardware with a background in Strategy, Capacity Planning, Supply Chain Optimization, technology strategy consulting * Experience distilling various data points into actionable insights and recommendations, to quickly separate signal from noise for executive communication and decision making * Business acumen and intuition, with the experience to form and refine hypotheses into an actionable analysis and recommendation * Problem solving and strategy skills, including expansive opportunity identification and framing of complex/ambiguous problems * Experience in completing multiple cloud/infrastructure/hardware efficiency or optimization projects * Technical experience in infrastructure, hardware or similar designs * Experience collaborating and working with internal and external organizations and individuals Preferred Qualifications * Masters Degree Responsibilities * Leverage technical experience and expertise, to Identify and build large transformational programs and initiatives across Infrastructure that scale Meta's Data Center footprint efficiently * Develop new Data Center planning strategies that focus on driving improvements in reliability, and achieve cost and operational efficiency including reductions in deployment times, improvements in data center power utilization, and service placement optimizations * Optimize network, hardware and DC infrastructure footprints to drive efficiency * Develop detailed project evaluation plans for data center plan evolution and set the pace to drive closure * Apply quantitative techniques, develop decision scenarios and trade-offs to drive multi-billion dollar infrastructure decisions at the highest level in the organization * Own the communications strategy for data center planning decisions which includes executive level and detailed project briefs and status updates * Use technical judgment to drive new project evaluations, technology reviews and proposals building consensus About Meta Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses. We are seeking a highly skilled HPC/AI/ML Cluster Engineer to support the design, deployment, and ongoing operations of large-scale HPC environments powered by Slurm. This role centers on cluster engineering, administration, and performance optimization, with emphasis on GPU-accelerated computing, advanced networking, and workload scheduling. In this role, you will work closely with our researchers, vendors, and partners to manage Slurm clusters that are used for AI/ML workloads. Responsibilities Cluster Engineering & Deployment Participate in the design and bring-up of bare metal HPC/AI/ML environments Architect compute node definitions (NUMA, GRES GPU topologies, CPU pinning) and Slurm partitioning strategies for diverse workloads. Integrate heterogeneous hardware platforms into cohesive scheduling environments. Develop provisioning and imaging workflows (Ansible, MAAS, cloud-init, CI/CD pipelines) for reproducible cluster build-out. Coordinate communications between vendors, researchers, and other partners during cluster bring-up and operation. Slurm Management Configure and operate the Slurm Workload Manager. Build custom Slurm plugins and scripts (epilog/prolog, pam_slurm_adopt) to extend functionality and integrate with authentication, and monitoring. Manage federated Slurm setups across multi-site or hybrid cloud environments. System Administration & Monitoring Administer Linux HPC environments, including network configuration, storage integration, and kernel tuning for HPC workloads. Deploy and maintain observability stacks for system health, GPU metrics, and job monitoring. Automate failure detection, node health checks, and job cleanup to ensure high uptime and reliability. Manage security and access control (LDAP/SSSD, VPN, PAM, SSH session auditing). User & Stakeholder Support Assist cluster users with developing workflows that make efficient use of compute resources. Containerize HPC applications with Docker/Podman/Enroot-Pyxis and integrate GPU-aware runtimes into Slurm jobs. Automate cost accounting and cluster usage reporting. Qualifications 7+ years experience in HPC cluster administration and engineering, with deep knowledge of Slurm. Familiarity with common AI/ML software package dependencies and workflows Expert in Slurm configuration, partition design, QoS/preemption policies, and GRES GPU scheduling. Strong background in Linux system administration, networking, and performance tuning for HPC environments. Hands-on experience with parallel file system, advanced networking (InfiniBand, RoCE, 100/200 GbE), and monitoring stacks. Proficient with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines) and version control. Demonstrated ability to operate GPU-accelerated clusters at scale.
