About The Role
The Core Banking Systems Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight, operational integrity, and continuous optimization of the credit union's core banking platforms*. This leadership role drives cross-functional collaboration and team development to ensure secure, efficient, and mission-aligned system operations across transaction processing, Deposit/Loan account management systems, Imaging & Archive platform, Automation design and management, and 3

party integrations to the core system.
The manager is also accountable for establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure system effectiveness, service delivery, and operational excellence. Leveraging automation technologies and data-driven insights, this role fosters innovation and continuous improvement to enhance member experience and support the credit union's strategic goals.
This is a key member of the TechnologyManagement team and requires fully onsite work at VCCU's OceanView Headquarters.
What You'll Do
The Core Banking Systems Manager ensures the secure, compliant, and efficient operation of all core banking technologies. This individual oversees daily, weekly, monthly, and annual processing requirements and will provide after-hours and weekend support, as needed, for critical systems and implementations.
System Ownership & Oversight: Lead administration of core platforms (e.g., JHA Epysis Core, Lending/Account processing systems, imaging & Archive, etc.), including configuration, upgrades, and third-party integrations.
Performance & Security: Monitor system health and enforce security protocols to maintain high availability and reliability.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to NCUA, FFIEC, DFPI, and other applicable standards.
Vendor Management: Serve as primary liaison with vendors; manage contracts, SLAs, and issue resolution.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with operations, lending, and member services to align system initiatives with business needs.
Audit & Risk Coordination: Support regular reviews with audit and risk teams.
Change Management: Govern core banking parameter changes through approved processes.
Business Process Automation: Manage organizational automation platforms leveraging tools such as OpCon, PowerAutomate, RPA, etc.
Core Programming Customization Oversight: Manage programming efforts (e.g., PowerOn for JHA) aligned with DevOps team best practices.
KPI & Ticket Management: Track and report KPIs; prioritize and resolve user-submitted tickets.
Documentation & Procedures: Maintain a catalog of operational procedures and retire outdated processes.
System Maintenance: Perform server tasks as directed by vendors and in collaboration with Enterprise Infrastructure & Application Support team.
Project Leadership: Act as a key stakeholder in all core banking system related initiatives.
Supervisor Responsibilities: Supervise and develop a team of specialists, analysts, and engineers.
Qualifications
What We're Seeking
A bachelor's degree in computer science, InformationTechnology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
5+ years' directly related experience in computer operations leadership and core banking systems. 3-5 years preferred specific to Jack Henry Epysis-EASE core system.
Ongoing education is needed to stay current with new technology.
Experience with vendor management, project leadership, and system integration.

What You'll Be Doing
Team Leadership & Technical Oversight
Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight for a team of high performing, mission minded Linux and Windows system administrators
Serve as the program Subject Matter Expert (SME) for system administration subjects, including operating systems, hardware/software integration, virtualization, and containerization
Have a firm understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems to delegate tasks to existing team of Systems Administrators in a fast-paced environment
Coordinate support with other internal program elements to give and receive additional System Administrator support as needed
Work closely with a team of engineers to provide high quality, innovative system administration services to the Government customer
Work with system engineers to identify and define requirements for new systems/system modifications, developing designs, implementing and testing solutions

Coordinate with hardware and software vendors and participate in all vendor-required activities, such as quarterly infrastructure reviews
Assist in Systems Administrator tasks as the mission requires
Develop and maintain system administration plans, procedures, processes and baseline configuration documentation
Be responsible for creating training plans in order to develop and mentor System Administrators
Have excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate effective and efficient interchanges with various members of the team and stakeholders
What You Bring
Basic Requirements:
Must have 6, or more, years or direct/specialized experience in a computer operations environment performing systems administration of both Windows and Linux Systems
Must have 3 years leadership/management experience
Must have experience working with virtual environments
Must have a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher (Security+ or equivalent)
Must have a current DoD Secret security clearance
