Job Description
This is a Computer Field Technician Position doing hardware repairs and installations on laptop and desktop units. To be successful in this position, you must have prior experience with laptop and desktop hardware.
Job Details:
This is a 1099/per call position
Pay is based solely on the number of calls completed.
Calls start at $35 and go up based on distance traveled
Pay period: Every Friday after the first week worked
Tickets are run Monday-Friday during the day shift. Candidates must be regularly available a minimum of 3 weekdays to be considered.
Call volume is variable but is usually 2-5 calls per day
You will complete certifications from Dell and Lenovo as part of your onboarding. Certifications are online and free to you.
You must have a reliable form of transportation and a valid driver's license to run these calls. You will be visiting multiple work sites throughout your day.
You must have access to a computer and the Internet to log onto your portal each day.
You must be available to log into your tech portal each morning you are working by 9 am to code your calls and map out your route for the day.
The manufacturer has completed troubleshooting and shipped a part prior to your ticket being issued to you.
You will confirm service times with the customer in your tech portal. Services will be completed at the customer site (residential and commercial)
You will pick up parts daily from the assigned Fed Ex or UPS store for your territory before going onsite. Once all calls are completed for the day drop off the old parts with the pre-paid label that is provided.

What you'll do
As a Data Center Technician you will help build out, troubleshoot, maintain and operate the Soluna location named "Dorothy". You will help operate, and maintain the network infrastructure and perform routine electrical and cooling system maintenance. This can include replacing hashboards, fans, power supplies, firmware, and software. Maintaining the equipment includes cleaning the equipment, filters and fans associated with the cooling.

You will be encouraged to bring any ideas to the table for evaluation to help improve the operations through a product development process.

What you'll do
As a Data Center Technician you will help build out, troubleshoot, maintain and operate the Soluna location named "Dorothy". You will help operate, and maintain the network infrastructure and perform routine electrical and cooling system maintenance. This can include replacing hashboards, fans, power supplies, firmware, and software. Maintaining the equipment includes cleaning the equipment, filters and fans associated with the cooling.
You will be responsible for maintaining the inventory, quality control and reporting (as applicable) of the operations as per the Standard Operating Procedures of the data center. This includes adherence to the operations security plan to maintain site security and information assurance. You will be encouraged to bring any ideas to the table for evaluation to help improve the operations through a product development process.
You will:
Perform daily maintenance on computing systems and facilities
Ensure a clean, presentable environment for our customers
Deploy, reset, organize, and rack computer equipment including ASIC and GPU hardware
Monitor systems for issues and perform maintenance
Receive, inspect, unbox and ship equipment as necessary
Maintain inventory and quality status of all equipment
What You Need to Get the Job Done
Experience collaborating and partnering with teams
Experience with computer hardware and server hardware or troubleshooting/diagnosing
Experience with operating systems and networking protocols
Ability to perform component level repairs on equipment
Comfortable with many different types of cryptocurrency mining equipment, including GPU servers.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Data Center Technician, you will work with state-of-the-art computing and networking equipment to ensure optimal uptime and provide regular basic repair services. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn about our network technologies and will demonstrate the ability to adapt to evolving systems. The Data Center Technician will perform routine maintenance under general supervision. This position ensures that the facility remains available for use and is consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition. The role involves operating various maintenance and mining tools and equipment, as well as performing other related tasks as directed by the Associate Manager and/or Manager of Data Center Operations.
Some of the key responsibilities you should expect are the following:
Operations Management:
Monitor, maintain, and optimize all critical data center systems, including power distribution units, UPS systems, cooling infrastructure, backup generators, and fire suppression systems to ensure continuous and efficient mining operations.
Carry out basic miner repairs and maintenance, flash firmware on miners, and handle associated miner tools and equipment.
Perform general facility duties as assigned.
Support preventative maintenance schedules, performing regular inspections, cleaning, and necessary repairs on all data center equipment to prevent unplanned downtime.
Incident Response:
Quickly identify and troubleshoot infrastructure and miner issues, coordinating with multiple teams to resolve technical problems and restore service with minimal disruption to mining activities.
Reporting and Analysis:
Monitor and contribute to detailed performance reports, including metrics such as uptime, power usage, and environmental conditions, to assist with decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Beginner to intermediate knowledge of data center infrastructure, including electrical systems, cooling systems, and network architecture, specifically within the context of Bitcoin mining operations.
Proficiency in troubleshooting complex technical issues related to power, cooling, and network systems.
Knowledge of data center best practices, standards, and maintenance procedures is preferred but not required.
Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to react quickly to critical incidents.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and team collaboration.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with safety standards, energy efficiency practices, and compliance regulations in data center operations.
ABOUT YOU

Pay is based solely on the number of calls completed.
Calls start at $35 and go up based on distance traveled
Pay period: Every Friday after the first week worked
Tickets are run Monday-Friday during the day shift. Candidates must be regularly available a minimum of 3 weekdays to be considered.
Call volume is variable but is usually 2-5 calls per day
You will complete certifications from Dell and Lenovo as part of your onboarding. Certifications are online and free to you.
You must have a reliable form of transportation and a valid driver's license to run these calls. You will be visiting multiple work sites throughout your day.
You must have access to a computer and the Internet to log onto your portal each day.
You must be available to log into your tech portal each morning you are working by 9 am to code your calls and map out your route for the day.
The manufacturer has completed troubleshooting and shipped a part prior to your ticket being issued to you.
You will confirm service times with the customer in your tech portal. Services will be completed at the customer site (residential and commercial)
You will pick up parts daily from the assigned Fed Ex or UPS store for your territory before going onsite. Once all calls are completed for the day drop off the old parts with the pre-paid label that is provided.
