We're looking for an Industrial Wastewater Operator with wastewater industry experience in Wichita, KS to safely operate and maintain treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with permit limits and supporting production processes that impact the communities we serve. The starting pay is $23.00-$26.00 per hour depending on experience and if a Wastewater Operator License is held. Candidates with enough industry experience may be able to negotiate a higher starting rate. Schedule: This is a full-time role with flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and participation in a 24-hour emergency call-out rotation. The shift schedule will either be on our first shift (6:00am-2:00pm) or our second shift (2:00pm-10:00pm). Physical ability to frequently lift 50-60 pounds, walk or stand for long periods, climb stairs and ladders, and access confined spaces. Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:The Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading plant operating personnel in the safe, professional, reliable, efficient, environmentally sound, and cost-effective operation of the power plant. Regularly coach, counsel, advise, and evaluate the performance of crew members and maintain appropriate documentation. • Participate in ensuring the plant meets all environmental regulations. • Ensure the quality of pre-job briefings, communication, lock out tag out, procedure compliance and shift turn-over. • Serve as Incident Commander during upset conditions. • Fully support and actively participate in efforts to improve equipment reliability and performance including: reliability centered maintenance studies, equipment testing and inspection, root cause analysis and heat rate improvement efforts. • Manage O&M spending by managing overtime, shift schedules, equipment inspections, repairs, and unit performance. • Ensure work documentation is accurate, complete and entered into the Computerized Maintenance Management System. • Collaborate with Planning to develop and manage a weekly schedule for equipment maintenance. Make daily work assignments that support the weekly schedule. • Communicate information up, down and across the organization. • Share information openly to foster an atmosphere of trust and cooperation within the support group and operations group; create a strategic framework for the effective operation of groups; and provide work direction and resources to effectively operate the plant. • Periodically supervise personnel from other crafts on an as needed basis. Education and Experience Requirements:• A minimum of four (4) years of industrial operating experience is required. • Preference will be given to candidates who are Control Room Operators (CROs) and fully qualified Auxiliary Equipment Operators (AEO)• Candidates must demonstrate a basic understanding of reliability-based operations, including familiarity with operational best practices and system performance optimization Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:• Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and industrial safety standards. Headquartered in Boston, Veolia has more than 10,000 employees working at more than 350 locations across North America. **Job Description** **Position Purpose:** The Operator I operates and maintains sludge, dewatering treatment, processing, disposal and testing equipment in an industrial facility to purify water to meet customer specifications and state discharge permit requirements. **Primary Duties/Responsibilities:** + Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities. + Consistently demonstrates the ability to learn and independently operate assigned machines and equipment meeting or exceeding processing, quality, and safety requirements. + Demonstrates the ability to learn and independently operate equipment such as pumps, engines, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed, sludge processing filters, belt presses and measuring/control devices, testing equipment and material handling equipment. + Demonstrates the ability to learn the proper utilization of waste-water laboratory equipment. + Must demonstrate a working ability to use computer programs for process control. **Work Environment:** + Spends 100% of the time in an operations environment. + May need to work outside in inclement weather conditions and drive company vehicles to perform duties. + Possible Work Hazards : May be exposed to possible operations hazards including fumes, toxic and caustic chemicals, heavy machinery, high pressure, hot or cold work environment temperatures, slippery surfaces, water hazards and electrical equipment. **Qualifications** **Education/Experience/Background:** + High School Diploma/GED is required. + Some experience in a related position and work environment is preferred. **Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:** + Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions). + Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. + Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities. + Must be able to serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-call if required by site. **Required Certification/Licenses/Training:** + Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record. + Must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check. + Ability to obtain certification to operate forklift and personnel lift. **Physical Requirements:** + Amount of time spent - Standing 35%, Walking 25% for as many as three miles per shift. + While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. + The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch and enter confined spaces. + Will be required to use ladders or stairs. + The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (occasionally 60 pounds). + Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
