Ingalls Memorial Hospital company history timeline

1923

They began by assembling a group of Harvey business leaders who supported the idea, and collectively donated time and funds to make the hospital a reality in 1923.

Ingalls Memorial Hospitals was founded in 1923 after industrialist Frederick Ingalls recognized the need for a hospital in Harvey, IL. When Ingalls Memorial Hospital opened its doors, Frederick dedicated the hospital to his wife, Jeanette Hess Ingalls, who passed away during the construction.

1946

Following her mother’s death, daughter Jean Ingalls Havens, directed the hospital until her retirement in 1946.

2000

2000 The Family Christian Health Center was founded and developed in April 2000 by a group of family practitioners that got together to try and solve the lack of medical aid in the area.

2005

2005 Family Christian Health Center experienced rapid growth as word of mouth spread about the practice.

2016

For nearly a century, Ingalls Memorial Hospital operated independently until merging with The University of Chicago Medicine in 2016.
