InMobi started in 2007, when it was known as mKhoj (mobile khoj), providing SMS-based search engine services.
These fundamental services range from mobile e-payments to advertising platforms. Therefore, with more interest in the advertising side of the business, mKhoj was founded in 2007.
By the end of 2008, inMobi had 50 people in four offices, most of them engineers and returnees to India.
The company initially focused on growing the business in emerging markets such as Asia, Africa and entered US in 2009.
In July 2010, Kleiner and Sherpalo put in another $8 million in the startup.It recently raised 200 million dollars and is among the few billion dollar tech companies in India and became the largest independent mobile ad network
In early 2010, with 120 employees, inMobi did a soft launch in the United States, then rolled out nationwide by midyear, in synch with an entry to Japan.
The company launched there in 2011, but now claims to be one of the largest mobile ad networks in the country.
InMobi earns a spot on the 2018 CNBC Disruptor 50 List, the sixth annual list of the most ambitious and innovative companies representing breakthrough ideas from all over the world.
Their most recent acquisition was Roposo on Nov 25, 2019.
InMobi named on CNBC Disruptor 50 list for 2019.
Their latest funding was raised on December 22, 2020.
They are further eyeing to acquire Shop101 this year, as per June 2021.
