Medical Scribe Job Responsibilities:
Ensures accurate and timely documentation of the medical chart under the supervision of the medical provider.
Assists the provider by accompanying them during the patient exam recording detailed information into the electronic medical record (EMR).
Directly supports physicians with patient appointment preparation and chart preparation.
Accurately captures all clinical information relevant to a patient's appointment from referral sources.
Prepares and drafts clinical notes for the Physician to review within 24 business hours after each appointment.
Assists in preparing lab orders, imaging orders, and prescriptions for each patient seen during clinic hours.
Coordinates with Clinical team (to include, but not limited to RN, LPN, Medical Assistants) to ensure all patient's history is captured and documented.
Coordinates with Schedulers to ensure each physician schedule has a smooth workflow.
Assists with the creation of a Care Plan for each patient after completing an office visit with the physician.
Occasional travel within Northern VA as needed
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Medical Assistant 2 Job Responsibilities:
Performs general patient care responsibilities including checking schedules and organizing patient flow; recording patient blood pressure, height, and weight; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, collecting specimens, phlebotomy, administering injections, assisting physicians/nurses; preparing patient for examination and treatment; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information.
Performs pre-visiting planning as indicated by the physician for the vulnerable population as indicated.
Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions as needed. Organizes medical records, including lab results, progress notes, etc. to ensure the provider has all of the necessary information available during the patient's encounter. Scans necessary medical information into the chart readying the chart for the patient's encounter. Instructs patient in basic testing requirements, e.g., clean catch urine, EKG, phlebotomy, pap tests, etc.
Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned which may include: setting up instruments and equipment according to protocol; cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits; ordering, sorting, and storing supplies; restocking exam/procedures rooms. Properly disposes of expired medications and supplies. Adheres to and employs appropriate sterile techniques and universal precautions guidelines. Follows guidelines for point-of-care testing, EKG techniques, and phlebotomy, as per manufacturer's requirements for equipment. Ensures equipment is in proper working order. Performs daily checks of equipment assuring it is in proper working order. Checks the environment prior to starting the clinic day to ensure there are no hazards in the hallways, no open containers, and rooms are clean and free of debris. Assists with the identification of actual and potential risks to patient safety. Reports patient safety issues to the physician and practice manager in a timely manner. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services. Assists with data collection for quality improvement activities.
Communicates problems relating to patients and/or staff with the practice manager in an objective and timely manner.
Actively participates in clinic huddles and offers suggestions to better meet the needs of the patients and the clinic flow. Participates actively in quality improvement initiatives and understands the importance of quality improvement.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: High School or GED
Experience: 1 year of clinical practice experience.

Job Summary
We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour MA to support the practice onsite. The schedule for the position will be Monday through Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm.
As true partners to our nurses and providers, our Medical Assistants get the opportunity to work autonomously to the top of their education/certification while also functioning as part of the collaborative team. In this position, the Medical Assistant will support a Provider that sees same-day sick appointments for patients both virtually and onsite.

Performs both administrative and clinical functions to support smooth and efficient clinical service or practice operations under close to general supervision.
