THE OPPORTUNITY The Used Truck Sales Consultant will be responsible for selling used trucks while achieving and maintaining appropriate levels of gross profit, volume, and customer satisfaction. This position evaluates trucks proposed for purchase, repossession, or trade-in and recommends purchase price and terms to Dealer Manager. This position also ensures that acquired vehicles are prepared for front line readiness, effectively and efficiently. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Approach, greet, and offer assistance or direction to any customer who enters the dealership showroom or sales lot. Understand the terminology of the commercial truck business and keeps abreast of changes in product technology, incoming inventory, features, accessories, etc. Assist customers in selecting vehicles by asking questions and listening carefully to their responses. Suggests alternative choices, if necessary. Write complete sales orders and processes paperwork in accordance with established dealership policies. Analyze trucks presented for purchase, trade-in, and repossession. Determines values based on blue book guide, market conditions, current auction results, and current inventory movement. Follow up on all post-delivery items and special requests to be sure that all customer expectations are met. Deliver vehicles to customers using walk-around presentation techniques, ensuring that the customer understands the vehicle's operating features, warranty, and paperwork Introduce customers to service and parts department personnel to emphasize the quality and efficiency of service repairs and maintenance available in the dealership's service department Monitor customer inventories, auctions, websites, and wholesalers for purchase opportunities whiling helping with the used-vehicle inspection process. Review and analyzes actions at the end of each day, week, month, and year to determine how to better utilize time and plans more effectively. Some travel will be required on all forms of commercial transportation to review potential purchases, attend training courses or meetings, evaluate existing inventory, or meet with current and potential customers.
