Kobi founded the company in 1999 and under his leadership, INSIGHTEC has been developing and marketing its Magnetic Resonance guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) technology.

In 2012, the company received European CE mark for the treatment of neurological disorders in the brain including essential tremor, Parkinson's disease and neuropathic pain.
He also serves on the Board of RefleXion, and he served on the Board of MAKO Surgical until its sale to Stryker in 2013.
The company was acquired by Stryker Corp. for $1.65 billion in 2013.
The company was founded by Kobi Vortman and Oded Tamir, with seed investment from Elbit Medical Imaging and GE Healthcare. It won approval to market the system for uterine fibroids in China in 2013.
