Summary
The Petroleum Inspector performs testing of bulk liquid or gaseous hydrocarbon or chemical cargo supervision services, such as but not limited to, gauging, sampling and reconciliation of transfer from shore tank, barge or ship to shore tank, barge or ship. Acts in accordance with Client, SGS Operational Excellence practices and Industry standards.
Job Functions
Physically samples, measures, and takes the temperature of vessel's tanks and shore tanks utilizing a variety of methods dictated by company and American Petroleum Institute (API) procedures.
Follows Safely standards and performs job efficiently. Works within defined technical processes and procedures or methodologies.
Calculates and reports quantities of the bulk liquid or gaseous hydrocarbon transferred and performs full reconciliation.
Completes all required reports and forms, using the SGS propriety Ship Inspection Report (SIR) and / or Site Acceptance Test (SAT) systems.
Works in cooperation with client's representatives, US Customs, vessel personnel, government agents and shore facility personnel.
Maintains regular communication with the business unit office staff with reference to job status, problems, concerns, etc.
Maintains knowledge and adheres to the latest industry, client and SGS internal standards, policies and procedures.
Operates to the highest standards of ethics, in accordance with the SGS Code of Integrity including adhering to all company safety practices.
Assists in other branch duties as assigned related to back office support and housekeeping.

Qualifications
Education and Experience

The NACE Inspector will be responsible for documenting each inspection, identifying any rejected indications, and ensuring proper corrective actions are followed during the repair process. The inspector will also be required to perform in-process inspections and submit daily reports during the repair process.
Key Responsibilities:
Visual Inspections: Conduct thorough visual inspections of the vulcanized rubber liner inside each of the three Ecodyn tanks to ensure they meet specified standards.
Holiday Testing: Perform Holiday Tests on the rubber linings of each tank to identify any coating defects or discontinuities.
Reporting: Document findings in clear and detailed reports for each tank, including any areas of concern or defects identified during the inspection.
Rejected Indications: If any rejected indications or defects are found, follow the approved repair process and ensure all necessary repairs are completed.
In-Process Inspections: Conduct in-process inspections during the repair phase to ensure the quality and compliance of repairs.
Daily Reports: Submit daily reports during the repair process to document progress, any issues, and resolutions.
Compliance: Ensure all inspection activities comply with applicable standards, including NACE and industry-specific guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

Position Summary

Measures (gauge and temperature) products and performs all required field calculations per the API Standards, completes all required field documentation and submits reports to the Operations Department in a timely manner.
Performs specialized inspection services such as loss control, wall washings or confined space entry upon receiving required training.
Assists in the training of Probationary and Junior Inspectors.

What is an Occupancy Verification?
Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and to do this they send out independent contractors. The purpose of the property inspection is:
To verify property occupancy.
To report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
We contract with inspectors at a county level. This means that you would be responsible to complete all inspections in your county. In some cases, you will split the county with another inspector if there is enough volume for two inspectors.
Responsibilities
Most common type of inspection should only take 5-6 minutes.
Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and make a determination of occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Requires being able to spend extended periods of time driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform visual cleanliness inspections of tanks including entering confined spaces
Verify the accuracy of measurement equipment
Work safely in the presence of hazardous materials as defined in the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheets
Take product measurements and samples; accurately and promptly perform related calculations; complete required reports and forms clearly and promptly; perform inventories; do non-petroleum or chemical inspection assignments
Perform other inspection department duties assigned by the Manager or Scheduler
Exercise procedural, safety and quality requirements specified in Saybolt procedures manuals, the Global Safety Manual, and Core Laboratories/Saybolt company polices
Attend training and pass appropriate examinations in petroleum, chemical and gas inspection procedures, including Right-to-Know training, hazardous materials transportation, and other safety training required by applicable regulations
Gain knowledge of basic and advanced laboratory procedures through cross training in laboratory
QUALIFICATIONS
A high school diploma or equivalent (general education degree).
5 years as an Inspector or related experience.
IFIA Certification required.

Essential Functions of the Position
Conduct QA/QC inspections for all civil construction activities, including but not limited
to earthwork, foundation, concrete placement, utilities, roadways, and structural
components.
Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
Prepare and maintain daily inspection reports, test results, non-conformance reports
(NCRs), and corrective action documentation.
Monitor construction work to ensure compliance with approved inspection and test plans
(ITPs).
Coordinate with contractors, site engineers, consultants, and quality managers to address
any quality-related issues.
Verify materials and workmanship meet the project's approved submittals and standards.
Attend quality and coordination meetings as needed.
Ensure that all inspection and testing records are properly documented and archived.
Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring quality issues and suggesting
practical solutions.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil
Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.

In-depth knowledge of industry standards and codes (ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, etc.).

Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on the properties they have financial interest in. The lender contracts with GIS to have inspectors go out to verify the property occupancy, report general property conditions, letter delivery/posting, vacant interior walk-through or insurance repair progress report.
