Position: 1st Shift Inspector Packer Job Summary Inspect and sort molded or assembled parts or products for defects, and/or deviations from specifications. Pack parts into designated packaging or pallet configurations based on customer requirements and/or standard quality specifications. Pay: $18.50 USD/hr Responsibilities Pack acceptable parts into pre-defined packaging or pallet configurations according to the established quality standard. Perform secondary operations per requirement to meet customer specifications. This may include part rework, assembly, repack tasks. Discard or reject products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications. Mark/label completed container(s)/bundle(s) with designated item information according to the established quality standards. Record production data accurately during shift and complete Secondary Operations documentation as required. Remove molded parts from WIP container and perform visual inspection for conformance to established quality standards. Maintain clean and organized work area making sure to properly discard rejected parts and to keep area free of debris. Transfer parts in/out of the curing oven as required/instructed. Compliance with legal environmental and safety requirements of the area. Know the environmental aspects of the area and its control. Know the environmental impacts associated with their activities. Follow all Environmental and Safety policies. Comply with procedures, regulations, and instructions of environmental and safety programs. Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands Position may require periods of intense physical exertion in conditions of extreme heat and humidity. Position requires the ability to stand, bend, and stretch over extended periods of time during a normal 8-hour work shift. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. This job can be described as: Responsible for setting up and performing a variety of inspections on purchased or manufactured material to ensure compliance with customer, quality and company requirements. The ability to interpret inspection requirements from blueprints/drawings, sketches and Engineering Specifications. Indicates acceptance or rejection of material based on the quality inspection procedure requirements. Conducts special or non-standard tests. Assists in set up, design and conducting experiments and records data according to test plans. Works with Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Engineering associates to aid with problem solving processes to rectify out-of-specification events. Job Model: On-Site All fully remote positions will require you to travel on site 2-4 times per month depending upon business needs at your own expense. Hybrid positions will require employees to work both on-site and remote each week under a schedule that has been determined and agreed upon by you and your manager. On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts. A typical day at work would include: Responsible for the development and maintenance of the inspection and test criteria including documentation. Documents non-conformances as appropriate, i.e. NCMR's. Inspect incoming raw materials and machined product to determine acceptability in accordance with quality plans, engineering drawings, specifications or procedures. Inspect first run and production parts where standard tools are not available and special tools and layouts may be required. Processing and dispositioning of RMA's. Performs a variety of simple to complex statistical procedures for quality control, when applicable. Maintains quality records for the department according to ISO standards and Chesterton Quality System principles. Coordinates the process of component/material certification for first runs. Maintains and adheres to QC standard operating procedures. Maintains and adheres to quality control work instructions. Program and run CMM equipment to measure new components. Conducts specialized experiments and/or tests requiring mechanical set up skills, data compilation and technical report writing. Assists technical, manufacturing, and customer personnel in the investigation, corrective action and verification of customer and/or process problems, including customer relations. Makes recommendations and/or contributions regarding solutions to new techniques. Other duties as assigned. Experience you need coming into this job: Associates degree required, Engineering preferred. 4-6 years related experience in a manufacturing/quality environment. Machine shop background a plus. Requires extensive knowledge of machining operations, types of materials, applications, inspection tools and equipment, and basic math skills. Ability to use all types of inspection tools and equipment to ensure adherence to specification requirements, including set-up. Ability to read and interpret blueprints/drawings, including Engineering Specifications for component compliance. Ability to investigate process and/or customer service problems and suggest corrective actions. Customer communication skills. Works Independently. Able to program and run CMM. Ability to work well with multiple functions of the organization i.e. purchasing, manufacturing and engineering personnel.
