Primary Purpose of the Position
This inspector will be pivotal in upholding Steward Machine Company's commitment to excellence, ensuring all products consistently meet stringent specifications. This role is critical for maintaining our reputation for quality, efficiency, and safety, directly contributing to the company's continued success.
Essential Functions / Duties
Conduct meticulous inspections of machines and fabricated weldments at assembly, inspection, or machining stations to ensure strict conformance to specifications.
Verify the conformance of vendor- furnished parts and materials against detailed plans and specifications.
Collaborate with production teams to ensure timely inspection functions at designated hold points, optimizing the shop flow of parts.
Document comprehensive findings from Visual, Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant, and Ultrasonic Testing on official inspection reports.
Interpret complex blueprints and engineering specifications to extract critical product information, including material surface, dimensional, and NDT requirements.
Precisely measure dimensions such as length, height, diameter, and distance between reference points using advanced precision instruments.
Accurately locate reference points on parts and measure intricate dimensions like angles, arcs, and radii.
Generate detailed inspection reports and maintain comprehensive welding logs.
Perform precise dimensional inspection of components and assemblies.
Execute thorough inspections of first-run, in-process, and final fabricated parts and assemblies.
Calibrate and test equipment to ensure optimal accuracy and performance.
Conduct hardness testing of workpiece surfaces using specialized machinery.
Prepare and meticulously maintain calibration records for welding machines and inspection gauges.
Develop and maintain accurate Welder Continuity Logs.

Mortgage Property Inspection Overview:
Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on the properties they have financial interest in. The lender contracts with GIS to have inspectors go out to verify the property occupancy, report general property conditions, letter delivery/posting, vacant interior walk-through or insurance repair progress report. Majority of our inspections are basic exteriors where some do require contact by door knock or letter delivery. In addition, there will be some inspections which require interior access to secured/vacant properties and appointment-based insurance loss inspections.
Job Responsibilities:

Thompson Engineering is looking for a CEI Inspector in the Birmingham, AL area. CEI Inspectors follow standard procedures in documenting construction projects and inspecting job activities to verify they are in compliance with project plans and specifications.
The inspector will be responsible for completing a daily report documenting the labor and equipment used by the contractor to include a description of the work performed and any pertinent conversations with the contractor.
The inspector will assist with office work such as plotting cross-sections and computing earthwork quantities. The inspector will report directly to the Senior Inspector and/or the Project Manager.
DUTIES
1. Inspect work in progress to ensure conformance with plans and specifications.
2. Inspect workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards.
3. Maintains required reports of construction inspection activities.
4. Prepares sketches of construction installations that deviate from plans and incorporates changes into master plans.
5. Inspects and test materials incorporated into the project.
6. Drive company vehicle safely to and from worksites

Perform random inspections in manufacturing departments to ensure products are being manufactured correctly according to work orders and drawings provided.
Ensure that each department is inspecting parts properly using gages and instruments available.
Review in-process inspection records and confirm results recorded by machine operators.
Perform mini-audits to ensure lot traceability is maintained throughout the manufacturing process - ensure that every bin or pallet of in-process material always has proper identification back to the work order.
Perform mini audits of raw material to ensure each mill tag displays a label to show that it has been properly inspected prior to use.
Make sure all gages and instruments used in manufacturing processes are in calibration and if not, bring them to the quality lab to bring current.
Work closely with other members of the quality team as well as manufacturing as required to ensure production of high-quality products.
Perform other tasks as instructed by quality manager or quality engineer.
