**Title:**
Inspector - NDE (NASA)
**KBR is looking for a Level 2 Certified NDE inspector to support inspection of ground-based pressure vessels and pressurized equipment (PVS) and lifting devices and equipment (LDE) at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) at Greenbelt, MD.**
**Job Description:**
+ Under general supervision, independently perform non-destructive test and evaluation activities in support of the LDE and PVS Programs at GSFC.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Coordinate NDT activities to ensure efficient and effective delivery.
+ Prepare and compile reports.
+ Ensure that equipment is always maintained in a serviceable condition and where required is calibrated.
+ Communicate on a regular basis with management team and support staff.
+ Perform testing in the laboratory environment or at a customer site.

+ Have general familiarity with other appropriate NDT methods, as demonstrated by an ASNT Level III. May attend design reviews and technical interchange meetings to provide safety assessments and technical support. Interpersonal relationship building and customer interfacing skills are desired
**Education:**
+ High school diploma and 4 or more years of inspecting experience required.
**An International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) union position requires formal training and certification as a minimum of a Level 2 inspector in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A, in the field of UT, MT, PT, and VT.**

- Train for 3 months; receive 40 hours of classroom training and receive hands on instruction.
- Learn to operate all instruments and test systems.
- Learn to read technical instructions and mill instructions.
- Written and practical examinations will be administrated after 3 months training.
- Upon receiving passing results, will reach level I.
Level I:
- Continue training in the above tasks.
- Must be able to make specific calibrations of all test systems according to procedures.
- Must be able to verify that equipment is calibrated.
- Will be able to operate the equipment under the direct supervision of a Level II.
- Will receive 40 hours of classroom training to perform all techniques necessary to become a Level II inspector including immersion testing (nuclear and non nuclear) and contact testing (nuclear and non nuclear).
- After 12 months and no more than 14 months experience since the beginning of training written and practical examinations will be administered.
- Failure to pass the examination on the third attempt will disqualify that person to be Level II and will require assignment to another job if available and qualified.
Level II:
- Will be able to operate all equipment and systems, in all techniques (immersion, contact, longitudinal, shear wave, nuclear and non nuclear).
- Will be able to accept or reject indications, perform calibrations, and work to all procedures as required.
- Should be able to organize and report inspection results in a thorough manner.
- Must be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the techniques for which the individual is qualified and must be able to apply those techniques as required.
- Requalification will be every 3 years by written and practical examination as required by T.I. QC-20 addenda 1 and 2.
- Failure to requalify on 3rd attempt will result in the same actions as above.
- An employee must work in the position for a minimum of 2 years to be eligible for job posting.
