Responsibilities
* Quality inspectors conduct verification and validation inspections of product and/or process against prescribed requirements.

* When non-conformances are identified, inspectors document these conditions with detail to enable an effective and efficient Material Review Board process.

Minimum Requirements
* Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 1 or more years' quality or aerospace manufacturing or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor, 3 years' related work experience, etc.).
* Demonstrable skill in using precision rulers, calipers, micrometers, bore gages, and/or other similar inspection tools.
* Able to document inspection results clearly citing prescribed requirements.
* Must be a US Person.
Preferred Requirements
* AAS degree in Quality or related discipline from an accredited university.
* ASQ certified quality inspector (CQI).
* 3+ years' experience in quality or aerospace manufacturing environment.
* Experienced in carbon composite aerospace manufacturing processes.
* Exposure to 3-dimensional inspection methods.
* Familiar with CAI (computer aided inspection) methods and techniques.
* Able to effectively use MS Office suite of tools.
Physical Requirements
* Must be able to work alternate shifts, overtime, and weekends when required.
* Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and wear proper PPE.
* Pass annual visual acuity exams.

Ensure compliance with all applicable calendar/hourly inspections, life limited or cycle limited components, airworthiness directives and alert service bulletins
Verification of testing for emergency locator transmitters (ELT), Transponders, Altimeters, Airspeed Indicators and Air Data Computers in accordance with Title 14 CFR Parts 91, 135 and 43

Compare quantity, part number, and serial number of items received with procurement data, purchase orders and other specifications to ensure accuracy and completeness
Create, distribute, track in SAP and disposition the monthly Shelf Life Expiration Date (SLED) report as directed
Create QN/NCs for non-conforming material detected and coordinate with Quality Engineers on non-conformity resolution
Ensure all materials have required documentation (i.e. 8130-3, EASA Form, Certificate of Conformance)
Process Goods Receipts during receiving of material
Document applicable maintenance actions for airframe, engine, accessories and components in accordance with FAA and EASA approved regulations and company procedures.
Research airworthiness directives, service bulletins, and alert service bulletins for applicability to aircraft and/or components
Read and validate engineering drawings, reports, and test specifications
Properly identify and document items in quality quarantine cage
Document and prepare airframe, engine, accessories or components for return to service after production, maintenance, overhaul, repair, inspection, test or modification
Compose and prepare required delivery documentation in relation to qualifying the airworthiness or return to service of aircraft, engines, parts, components and systems

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Level 1 Quality Inspector to support our defense fabrication and assembly operations at Taylor Defense Products. This role is instrumental in ensuring that all welding, machining, and mechanical assembly processes meet stringent military, commercial, and internal quality requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in defense, aerospace, or heavy equipment sectors, and be comfortable inspecting components across multiple production disciplines including welded assemblies, machined parts, and mechanical systems.
The Quality Inspector will report to the Quality Manager and collaborate closely with welders, machinists, assemblers, engineers, and supervisors to ensure all products conform to drawing specifications, applicable standards, and customer expectations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Perform in-process and final inspections on welded, machined, and assembled components to verify dimensional accuracy, workmanship, and conformance to drawing and specification requirements.
Inspect welds visually in accordance with AWS D1.1 and/or project-specific standards; familiarity with MIL-STD-3040A preferred.
Utilize precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators) to inspect critical dimensions of machined and assembled components.
Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T callouts to validate proper fit, form, and function.
Verify part traceability, material certifications, and ensure build documentation is complete and compliant.
Record and report inspection findings; issue nonconformance reports (NCRs) as required.
Support first article inspections (FAI) and assist with part validation per internal procedures.
Collaborate with production teams to identify quality trends, support root cause analysis, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
Assist with internal and customer audits and help maintain ISO 9001:2015 quality system requirements.
Provide feedback and coaching to technicians and production operators on quality-related concerns.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of quality inspection or equivalent experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or machining environments.
Strong knowledge of mechanical inspection techniques and familiarity with weld and machining standards.
