Responsibilities Starting Pay: $39.75/hr. * Performs assigned inspection functions in accordance with the Company's GMM, Manufacturer's Maintenance Manual Procedures and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations to ensure that the Company aircraft, engines, appliances, and components are maintained to the prescribed standards of airworthiness and serviceability. Identify and log errors into the Records Error database and generate Record Error Notices for correction. * Review aircraft logbooks for pilot and AMTs reports, deferred maintenance and accomplishment of correct airworthiness release procedures. * Ensure Spirit processes, i.e. Calibrated Tools, Shelf-Life Items, quarantine and scrapped parts, in various locations are accomplished in accordance with company manuals. * As designated and assigned by the Manager Quality Control, accomplish safety and housekeeping checks of hangar and/or line work areas. * Assist the Manager Quality Control in the on-site acceptance checks of additional aircraft to be added to the company's Ops Specs. * Provide guidance and assistance to maintenance personnel in order to train, maintain and enhance compliance to programs, policies, and procedures. * Performs as a Designated Instructor in areas and/ or subjects as qualified and approved by the Manager, Maintenance Training and the Manager Quality Control. * May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Perform a visual inspection of the optical (glass) lenses against applicable standards ( i.e. ISO10110 and MIL-PRF-13830) using a high intensity light source, or indirect lighting with eye loupes, and/or microscope to identify and find any surface defects (scratches, stains, chips, fractures, etc.) on the lens after polishing or coating. Use the applicable standard to determine if the depth/width of the defect is acceptable or rejected based on the drawing specification. Visual inspection of low/moderate (standard/commercial) grade surface quality requirements (80-50, 60-40 scratch dig equivalent) which are a commonly acceptable cosmetic standards. Perform the inspection of raw glass blanks with documentation and release of material to production. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Responsible for inspecting incoming customer loads for acceptable and non-acceptable materials. * Maintain a broad and working knowledge of different types of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. * Identify and grade inbound scrap and reject unacceptable items. * Direct customer traffic to the appropriate collection sites. * This includes identifying non-conforming items and properly pointing these out to customer and deducting weight as needed. * Must have excellent communicating skills and be able to handle stressful situations. * Ensure that customers follow proper procedures for selling recyclable materials. * Help guide semi-trucks in & out of yard and maintain an efficient traffic pattern for all vehicles. * Communicate very clearly with the weighmaster and machine operator for each load. * Sort materials for processing as directed and move items to designated storage areas daily. * Assist with unloading materials for customers one at a time. * Clean and maintain work area daily. * Comply with all applicable federal, state, local, & SA Recycling safety, health, & environmental rules, regulations, policies, & procedures. * Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures * Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned. Qualifications of an Inspector: * High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience. * 1-year previous general labor in the scrap metal or construction industries preferred. * Ability to use a computer tablet. * Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus. * Ability to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. * Ability to learn new tasks as assigned required. * Must pass a Background Check * Must pass pre employment physical and Drug Screen PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Inspectors must be capable of being on their feet most of the day as well as: Work Environment: Scrap metal yard, outdoor all-weather conditions. * stand and walk frequently on uneven ground and throughout the yard. * lift and carry, capable of repetitive motion and be able to handle physical labor. * push and pull occasionally when moving materials. * crouch or bend at the knees consistently to move or access materials or equipment. * stoop or bend at the waist consistently to move materials. * reach at arm's length and overhead frequently. * twist and turn at the neck and trunk continually. * climb occasionally when obtaining items. * manual dexterity required, as the Inspector will handle, grasp, and manipulate materials constantly. * communicate clearly by speech and hearing continually. * possess visual acuity needed for close detail work and documentation; and * possess mental dexterity to work independently while demonstrating attention to detail and continuous awareness of their environment. Role Summary/Purpose: Perform non-destructive tests (NDT) on aircraft engine components. Inspect metallic and nonmetallic materials, parts and assemblies for discontinuities or defects using automated and manual methods and techniques which include liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, x-ray, and eddy-current. Essential Responsibilities: Inspection of parts in accordance with manufacturers' repair/overhaul manuals or other specifications for the interpretation to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) Set up, operate, calibrate and perform Process Control Checks on NDE equipment by following established instructions and record results.
