The prospective candidate(s) must be experienced in structural steel fabrication, applying AWS D1.5 (or AWS D1.1) inspection and testing code requirements including witnessing and reporting NDT performed. Responsibilities * Familiarity and experience with AASHTO/AWS D1.5 / AASHTO/AWS D1.1. * Perform third party DOT structural steel fabrication quality assurance inspection and reporting * Utilize applicable ASTM , AASHTO construction and project specific specifications * Read and interpret shop drawings, specifications and project special provisions to verify compliance to material quality * Ability to work closely with other fabrication, construction and quality personnel in a courteous and professional manner * Perform Visual (VT) Testing inspection per applicable code requirements. * Familiarity with inspecting and reporting high strength (Grade 325) bolts testing (rotational capacity/preinstallation verification) and reporting. * Familiarity with geometric in-process dimensional verification including lay-down and progressive assembly to ensure fitment during erection. * Proficiency in using the following: Laptop computer, cell (smart) phone, scanner and printer * Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Word, internet, report writing, adding photographs and other files within reports and as attachments. * Ability to develop and maintain client relations. General Statement of Job Under occasional supervision, inspects private and public right-of-way or easement and site developments as well as other locations to ensure compliance with legal regulations and compliance to our Stormwater permit and general NPDES, FEMA flood plain and SFWMD regulations. Assists the Stormwater Engineering Division in compliance of these and other stormwater related permit requirements, projects and programs.
