The Residential Cross Connection Inspector is responsible for protecting the public drinking water supply from contamination by identifying and evaluating actual or potential cross-connections within residential plumbing systems. The inspector conducts thorough inspections to ensure compliance with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) Water Bureau Cross Connection Control Regulations, as mandated by the Safe Drinking Water Act, Act 399. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Conducts residential surveys at a minimum of 2,900 inspections annually at homes to identify and assess potential cross connections and hazards, such as those from garden hoses, irrigation systems, swimming pools, boilers, water softeners, toilet assemblies and water assisted sump pump systems, or any other systems connected to the water system. 2.Ensures proper installation, maintenance, of backflow prevention assemblies. 3.
