The ideal candidate will be interested working in manufacturing sites as well as client sites to review Rail Car Systems and quality programs audits of parts suppliers. The Rail Vehicle Quality Inspector we are seeking must possess minimum of 8 years of experience in the manufacturing and overhaul of Rail vehicles. As an NDT Inspector II, you will perform non-destructive testing on aerospace components, interpret results, and ensure parts meet quality and safety standards. What you'll do: * Ensures the functional and acceptable status of the non-destructive test equipment in accordance with the appropriate company process. * Determines the acceptance of parts and components for surface condition in preparation for the non-destructive test process. * Performs the specific non-destructive test process as identified in the shop order work instruction. * Processes the part(s) in accordance with the appropriate company process. * Inspects and interprets the test results. * Marks all unacceptable discontinuities for location and dimension. * Documents the completion and test results of non-destructive test process. * Ensures parts are cleaned following completion of NDT process and in acceptable condition for further processing. * Performs equipment and material maintenance checks in accordance with the appropriate company process. * Maintains records of all maintenance performed on the non-destructive test equipment and materials. * Liaisons with engineering, inspection, and other personnel as required to assist in researching and solving non-destructive test process problems. * Maintains personal qualifications as stated in the appropriate company process. * Supervises trainees in the on-the-job trainer non-destructive test training requirements. * Participates in continuous improvement of cell processes. * Cross trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements. * Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements. * Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements. * Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions. * Carries out other duties as assigned. What skills you'll use: * Currently certified to at least one of the following methods as a level II or III according to the requirements of NAS-410 with enough experience to be certified as a level III: FPI, MPI * Experience with Penetrant Testing (PT), including fluorescent penetrant methods preferred (not just visible dye). * Experience with Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) involving continuous wet methods and bench inspection equipment; experience limited to yoke testing or prods is insufficient. * Must be able to and willing to provide evidence from previous employment that meets the requirements of NAS-410 of accepting the certification in the method. * Knowledgeable in and understanding of inherent and non-inherent discontinuities found in materials. * Knowledgeable in the requirements and methods of handling materials processed at Standard Aero. * Must be willing to be trained and certified in multiple methods. * Must be able to pass the vision acuity requirements of NAS-410. * High school diploma or equivalent. * Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day. * Regularly required to sit and stand for prolonged periods. * Working knowledge of production management computer system and other related internal control systems. Full-time Description The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for maintaining quality standards by inspecting and approving machined, in-process production, purchased and finished products; recording quality results. The QC Inspector will work under limited supervision and directly with other inspectors and machinists to deliver a high quality product. Essential Duties & Functions: Completes all duties and responsibilities in adherence with Tri Tool's core values. Perform manual inspection of parts on surface plate using mechanical hand tools such as height gages, micrometers, and calipers. Inspects first article, in-process and final products by confirming product meets applicable drawings and specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; documenting and communicating rejections of unacceptable items. Inspection of products for outside processes such as: heat treat, machining, plating/painting, engraving etc. Receiving inspection of purchased products and outside processes. Operate Manual and DCC bridge CMMs running CMM Manager. Write programs, fixture, and report for machined metal parts. Record and document inspection data in logs and computer tracking tools. Keep inspection and measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; and notifying management when repairs are deemed necessary. Perform in-house calibrations on equipment such as micrometers, plug gages, thread gages, etc. Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with State, Federal, and Company safety regulations.
