Role Description
We are seeking a full-time Electrical Inspector to support construction projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Responsibilities
Conduct daily inspections of electrical installations, including medium-voltage systems, traction power, low-voltage systems, communications, fiber optics, traffic monitoring systems, highway lighting, and traffic signals.
Review construction drawings, specifications, and submittals for compliance and constructability.
Identify and escalate scope changes, contract modifications, and potential conflicts to the Project Manager/Resident Engineer.
Respond to and resolve field construction issues; coordinate with contractors and project teams to ensure quality and compliance.
Prepare detailed daily reports on contractor progress and document any nonconformance issues.
Review RFIs and change requests from contractors and provide technical analysis and recommendations.
Support project closeout procedures, including punch lists, testing, and documentation.
Uphold workplace safety and comply with client health, safety, and anti-harassment policies.
Provide availability for night shifts as needed.
Perform additional duties as required to support business needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years' experience in construction inspection on public works projects.
Minimum High School Diploma required. Degree in engineering or construction management would be a plus.
NETA Level 2 certification or higher.
Proficient in interpreting and applying relevant codes, standards, and materials.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Valid California driver's license.
Strong proficiency in reading and writing in English.
Preferred Qualifications
Roadway construction inspection experience on highway or public works projects.
Familiarity with Caltrans and other local transit agency procedures.
Engineering or construction management degree, credentials, or certifications

Key Responsibilities
* Perform advanced Quality inspections of precast and prestressed concrete elements including girders, pier caps, platform panels, parapets, and structural segments.
* Ensure all work complies with PCI MNL-116, MNL-117, MNL-135, project specifications, and approved shop drawings.
* Oversee and document stages of production, including reinforcement placement, prestressing operations, concrete batching, placement, curing, stripping, finishing, and handling/storage.
* Observe and verify post-tensioning, grouting.
* Conduct or witness concrete field tests (slump, temperature, air, cylinders) and confirm calibration of all test equipment.
* Review inspection reports, test data, and material certifications.
* Evaluate concrete mix designs, material submittals, and prestressing strand documentation for compliance with contract and PCI requirements.
* Maintain thorough daily inspection logs, photos, and nonconformance records within approved project documentation platforms.
* Coordinate closely with Contractor QC, Contractor QA, and other oversight personnel to ensure timely issue resolution and compliance verification.
* Participate in pre-pour and pre-erection meetings, quality audits, and third-party inspections.
* Promote and enforce project safety and environmental compliance requirements in all field activities.
Qualifications
* PCI Level II or Level III Certification (required).
* Minimum 7-10 years of progressively responsible QA/QC or inspection experience with precast or prestressed concrete on major transportation or rail infrastructure projects.
* Proven knowledge of ACI, ASTM, and PCI requirements.
* Demonstrated experience overseeing fabrication QA/QC programs at PCI-certified plants and field erection of structural components.
* Proficiency with Procore, CMIS, BIM 360, or equivalent documentation platforms.
* Strong technical writing, communication, and coordination skills.
* OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour Construction Safety training (preferred).

What You'll Do:

Under direction, the Permit Technician III supervises, trains, evaluates and participates in the work of staff who perform a wide variety of paraprofessional, technical, administrative and specialized work in receiving, reviewing, processing and issuing building, electrical, plumbing and related permits and applications; determining required inspections; creating inspection records and appointments; maintaining field inspection lists and processing requests for records. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: These minimum qualifications establish the education, training, experience, special skills and/or license(s) which are required for employment in the classification.
Experience: Four (4) years of verifiable, building permit and plan processing experience, of which two (2) years of experience must have involved building permit and plan processing functions equivalent to the level of class 6322 Permit Technician II with the City and County of San Francisco.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION
Possession of the Permit Technician Certification, issued by the International Code Council, or equivalent issuing agency, is required within two (2) years of appointment.

Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: These minimum qualifications establish the education, training, experience, special skills and/or license(s) which are required for employment in the classification.
Experience: Four (4) years of verifiable, building permit and plan processing experience, of which two (2) years of experience must have involved building permit and plan processing functions equivalent to the level of class 6322 Permit Technician II with the City and County of San Francisco.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONPossession of the Permit Technician Certification, issued by the International Code Council, or equivalent issuing agency, is required within two (2) years of appointment.

SELECTION PROCEDURES This is a Position-Based Test conducted in accordance with CSC Rule 111A.
After application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process, which includes the following: Minimum Qualification Supplemental Questionnaire (MQSQ) (Weight: Qualifying): Candidates will be required to complete a MQSQ as part of the employment application at a later time.

Eligible List: A confidential eligible list of applicant names that have passed the civil service examination process will be created, and used for certification purposes only.
An examination score report will be established, so applicants can view the ranks, final scores and number of eligible candidates.
Applicant information, including names of applicants on the eligible list, shall not be made public unless required by law.
However, an eligible list shall be made available for public inspection, upon request, once the eligible list is exhausted or expired and referrals resolved.
The eligible list/score report resulting from this civil service examination process is subject to change after adoption (e.
