DEFINITION: The purpose of this job/class within the organization is to maintain, repair, install, and inspect all new and existing backflow devices within the City. This job/class works under close supervision according to set procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Not all-inclusive): Conducts backflow hazard surveys of businesses. Maintains spreadsheets and other records for backflow program. Completes and files inspection reports and conduct follow-up inspections. Prepares letters and/or issue notices of violation. Provides on call coverage to respond to possible emergency events. Acts as the departmental representative when working with local, regional, county, state, and federal regulators. Answers and resolves questions from representatives and contractors in regards to Backflow Prevention compliance. Inspects all new backflow assemblies to ensure proper installations. Inspects and test all city owned backflow assemblies to ensure proper functioning. Additional Duties: Performs related work as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires six months experience in testing, repair, and maintenance of water or waste water systems or closely related experience.
