Responsibilities You will be responsible for scheduling on-site surveys and providing risk control reports to insurance industry clients. These reports contain information necessary to underwrite a commercial insurance policy and may include recommendations to control and/or correct potential loss producing conditions associated with that policy. You will be expected to manage assignments you accept, successfully secure customer appointments within a local territory and complete work assignments on time. Our Risk Control Inspectors evaluate businesses behind the scenes to identify hazards and improve safety, mitigating risks for our insurance company clients. The type of businesses we survey are commercial operations, including retail, restaurants, hotels, apartments, construction jobsites, churches, schools, etc. Most surveys are focused on assessing the business for Property and General Liability coverage, but we also service other commercial insurance lines of business including Workers Compensation, Auto/Fleet, Products Liability, Inland Marine and Builders Risk. Qualifications Preferred experience in commercial insurance, real estate, inspection, construction, claim, loss control, underwriting, and/or fire and safety experience is a plus, but all interested candidates are encouraged to submit their qualifications. We contract with inspectors at a county level. This means that you would be responsible to complete all inspections in your county. Key Responsibilities: Track, monitor, and report on every phase of the construction process. Review plans and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements. Conduct inspections of construction work to ensure adherence to quality control standards and project specifications. Monitor progress reports, schedules, and budget to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of the project. Collaborate with project managers, project owner, engineers, contractors, and construction teams to address any issues or concerns. Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection findings, including any non-compliance issues and recommended corrective actions. Maintain accurate records of all inspections, approvals, and certifications, materials testing, EEO compliance, meetings, decisions, and issues. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Position requires full knowledge of and adherence to NYSDOT standards, plans and specifications. Excellent technical writing skills, and the ability to maintain project documentation, diary, daily work reports. Ability to communicate and coordinate construction activities with the Project owner, MJ's Project Manager, NYSDOT Representative(s), General Contractor, and our subconsultant(s), and represent MJ in a professional manner is a must. Familiarity with InfoTech Appia or related reporting software, as well as use of Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Qualifications: Associate's degree or equivalent with minimum 10 years of experience in construction field required. In-depth knowledge of construction specifications, materials, and approval process. Expertise in highway and/ or bridge construction. Experience with NYSDOT and LAFA construction projects is preferred. NICET certification at Level III or IV or demonstration of equivalency through education and work experience is required. Valid driver's license in good standing and reliable transportation to job site location. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve construction-related issues.
