Raba Kistner is seeking an experienced SWPPP Inspector, to join our Environmental team in Houston, TX. The duties of the SWPPP Inspector will be to inspect construction activities to ensure compliance with environmental features of project plans and environmental commitments made to our customer with respect to the project construction and potentially impacted environmental features reporting observations orally and in writing to customer site contact. Other duties will include:
Inform Environmental Compliance Inspectors and/or other members of the Environmental Compliance Team of observations, violations, activities, etc.
Contact supervisor for priorities and deadlines in the field.
Resolve differences in the interpretation of plans and specifications.
Ensure the safe utilization, storage and maintenance of all documents and tools.
Update Direct Report on progress and delays on every task or assignment.
Ensure safe usage and maintenance of individually assigned company vehicle and field equipment.
Meet established project deadlines.
Carry out assigned duties in accordance with established procedures.
Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive and complete inspection reports on a daily basis in accordance with established quality procedures.
Review plans, specifications, and shop/working drawings for project activities.
Meet with contractor's supervisors or other project leaders on assigned project sites to discuss and coordinate environmental compliance activities, corrections to existing controls, and implementation of additional controls.
Prepare reports on findings to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal environmental laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
Evaluate environmental impact of construction activities including water quality/wetland/hazardous material geological, cultural or historic resources.
Keep abreast of current environmental developments to include laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Responsible for maintenance and update of water quality records such as Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of environmental controls.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred but not required.
Possess a valid driver's license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet company's auto insurability requirements.
Some knowledge of:
Environmental laws, regulations, and mitigation requirements.
Commercial construction, plans, construction inspection procedures, and specifications
Reading and interpreting specifications.
Materials used in Commercial construction.
General knowledge of erosion control procedures. Ability to work under exposure to inclement weather conditions, travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain. Position Summary
Performs sampling, pipeline transfers, inventories and barge inspections including line condition surveys. Performs vessel inspections under the direct supervision of a Senior Inspector. Minimum Requirements
Requires a High School Diploma (or equivalent) with good math skills and a minimum three months of inspection experience.
Must complete Inspector level training and pass corresponding theoretical tests and field evaluations.
Must have or obtain IFIA certification after gaining at least six months of industry experience.
Must maintain a valid Transportation Worker's Identification Card (TWIC). Possess and maintain a vehicle in good working order, a valid driver's license, vehicle insurance and registration.
Must be dependable, able to work independently and be able to effectively communicate and maintain professional relationships with numerous clients (i.e., terminal and vessel/barge personnel).
Must pass company defined physical requirements. Must meet and maintain site-specific requirements mandated by customers and/or terminals to have access to all facilities.
Responsibilities
As instructed by the Operations Department and under the strict guidelines described in the Inspection and ASTM/API manuals:
Acts as a Company representative in the field. Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities as per company policies and procedures. Maintains regular contact with Operations Department to receive work orders and schedules.
Effectively communicates all aspects of assigned job duties. Maintains regular contact with Operations Department, terminals, and vessel to avoid delays or conflicts.
Obtains, labels and transports samples to the laboratory in a timely manner as required by each specific job assignment.
Maintains assigned inspection equipment in good working order and ensures equipment is properly calibrated and stored.
Measures (gauge and temperature) products and performs all required field calculations per the API Standards, completes all required field documentation and submits reports to the Operations Department in a timely manner.
Performs specialized inspection services such as loss control, wall washings or confined space entry upon receiving required training.
Assists in the training of Probationary and Junior Inspectors.
Fitness for Duty - Physical Demands
Workday may consist of 8-12 hours; however, this can vary day to day or shift to shift. * Basic mechanical, machining or drafting experience is a plus.
* Familiarity with ACME and/or API threads is an asset.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
* Self-starter with strong problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities.
* Team player with strong interpersonal skills and accountability.
* Willingness to work overtime when required.
