MAJOR FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the Retail Pharmacy Manager, responsible for appropriately dispensing medications written by licensed medical personnel and providing information to customers regarding their prescription or over-the-counter medications. In addition to supporting the Pharmacy Manager in leading and directing your Pharmacy Technician Support Staff, you are accountable for supporting the management, oversight and operation of all aspects within your pharmacy. This includes interpreting physicians' prescriptions and compounds, dispensing medications pursuant to regulatory guidelines, consulting with customers regarding medication use and potential drug interactions and handling complex problem resolution.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
Graduate of a College or School of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education with a minimum of a bachelor's degree.
ASHP Residency or master's degree desirable.
Retail Pharmacy experience required.
Certification/Licensure:
NJ Division of Consumer Affairs Immunization Pharmacist Certification required
Certified Immunization Pharmacist in the State of New Jersey.
AHA Basic Life Support required.
Physical Requirements:

Serves as a resource of information on medications, pharmacokinetics and interactions, to providers.
Assist providers in the management of patients with polypharmacy including conducting medication reconciliation, writing medication lists, completing the patient medication card, and providing other means for patients to understand how to take their medications.
Works in the CEC periodically to assist providers with requests from pharmacies regarding therapeutic interchanges, questions regarding prescriptions and continuity of care to ensure patients get prescriptions in a timely manner.
Work collaboratively with the Coumadin Management Team to evaluate, assess and assist patients with their INR once notified of results by nurse. Then update Coumadin Management Flowsheet as required and renew warfarin prescription to ensure patient has sufficient supply.
Works collaboratively with referring primary care providers for the management of smoking cessation patients. Pharmacist will call patients are needed when due for follow-up and ensure patient has sufficient supply of smoking cessation aid.
Conduct prospective and retrospective chart reviews on selected patients and discuss findings with providers and/or Chief Medical Officer.

• Review completed orders and cycle-fill medications to ensure prescriptions were filled correctly
• Verify the legality and pharmaceutical feasibility of dispensing a drug based on patients' allergies, Incompatibilities with current medications, frequency of refills, etc.
