Job Description
The Field Service Engineer provides exceptional technical support, maintenance, installation, and training for TOMRA's cutting-edge food sorting equipment. Primary Job Functions
Perform field service work at customer sites which includes installation, commissioning, testing, integration, optimization, maintenance and repair, ensuring full functionality via troubleshooting machine problems through to resolution
Perform all mechanical, electrical, electronic and optical tuning and setup by analyzing, evaluating and diagnosing equipment
Perform preventative maintenance including preseason service, postseason service and enhancing ongoing performance of machines
React in a prompt and professional manner to customer machine issues in the field. Where an easy fix is not possible, ensure customer is well informed of the next steps and potential costs
Address customer complaints and if necessary, escalate to appropriate stakeholders
Maintain close relationships and work collaboratively with engineering, research & development, sales, customer solution delivery and other internal stakeholders for continuous improvement activities, to advise on any potential sales opportunities and to successfully complete projects. Contribution and collaboration is vital whether its research and development site testing, refurbishment, refitting, upgrades or new installs, all projects require teamwork
Act as the voice of the customer in the value chain to improve products systems and services, by reporting on feedback and comments received in the field leadership, research and development, or sales
Assist with training and development of new Field Service Engineers, as requested

This position is an essential position to the Service Department who performs advanced diagnostics and repairs on heavy-medium duty diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and other systems. Troubleshoot complex issues using diagnostic software, technical manuals, and experience. Conduct thorough inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure fleet vehicles meet safety and performance standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To effectively perform the duties of a Service Technician Level 3-4 individuals must be able to demonstrate several competencies that are essential to the position, which include:
Leadership qualities to effectively advise junior technicians.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with colleagues, customers, and parts suppliers.
Commitment to safety protocols and regulations governing the maintenance and repair of commercial vehicles.
Collaborate with foremen and parts department to coordinate repairs and order necessary components.
Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey technical information in the technician notes and to the foreman and or manager.
Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and must be able to improve performance through management feedback.
Good computer skills.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Five years (5) of increasingly responsible experience in Technician work in a heavy/medium-duty application.
Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver’s license. Class A preferred.
Not required but preferred – completion of a diesel technology program or apprenticeship
Certification as a journeyman diesel technician or similar credential demonstrating mastery of the trade.
Ongoing training to stay current with advancements in diesel technology, emissions standards, and safety regulations.

Who you are:
As an Installation Technician you will be responsible for assisting with the installation of our wireless Semios network devices onto customer sites in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for agriculture, technology, and be comfortable with long hours outdoors in any environmental condition. You are a self motivated individual who is willing to work relatively independently while completing tasks, a good communicator and a great team player. We also need someone who is comfortable prioritizing their workload to be efficient and productive.
What you will do:
Performs installations and repairs that requires a basic level of technical and mechanical skills
Install network equipment including Semios dispensers, insect camera traps, weather stations, network gateways, leaf wetness sensors and soil moisture monitoring sensors
Troubleshoot and maintain sensors and equipment using our Service and Installation app
Regularly service and replace lures and liners on Semios traps and perform equipment maintenance to ensure traps are functioning properly
Operate company ATVs
Operate power tools
Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year work experience
Ability to work long hours outdoors in various conditions
Comfortable operating an ATV in an agricultural setting
Good communication skills
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
