PRIMARY FUNCTION: The primary function of this position is to determine the status of and provide support for school and activity buses within the school bus industry. This includes all types of planned maintenance services, as well as any expert level field repairs, replacements, installations, or rebuilding of parts to restore the bus to its proper operation. In addition to the essential duties, this position requires special experience and expertise on Ford products such as the 6.8L (V10) and 7.3L (V8) engines and 6R140 6-speed automatic transmission. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Review the work schedule, check the equipment and supply required to perform the work scheduled, comply with PPE requirements, and otherwise prepare for duties. Use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, parts diagrams to troubleshoot, engines, engine fuel systems, & transmissions. Use lift trucks, overhead cranes, & other aides to lift or move parts into position to be repaired. Use hand & power tools to remove, install, replace, re-build, repair, & test. Use miscellaneous resources & computers to reference parts, get information about parts & enter data into record systems. Use hand & power tools to disassemble/reassemble parts or equipment, drains fluids into tubs, cleans parts with rags, cleaners, power washer. Climb up onto, under, & into vehicle engine compartment, uses hand & power tools to disassemble/re assemble: sheet metal, engines, transmissions, fuel systems, & other parts or equipment. Replace pumps, batteries, radiators (200 lb. with assistance), bearings, seals, wiring, solenoids, fuel lines, nozzles, tests float valves, glow plugs, alternators, etc. Use overhead hoists on service truck to move parts that need to be moved off of vehicle & onto service truck & to move items back to vehicle to be reassembled. Use various types of meters, measuring devices, & computers to test & recalibrate equipment. Perform inspections, do preventative maintenance, change oil, replace filters, belts, coolants, hoses, drain/clean/refill fuel systems. Operate equipment that requires a class B CDL license with passenger endorsement. Perform maintenance and repairs associated with the following engines: Cummins ISB, ISC, ISL , ISM engines, as well as Ford 6.8L(V10) and 7.3L(V8) engines. Perform maintenance and repairs associated with air brakes, air conditioning, basic electricity with experience and understanding of wiring and hydraulic shematics. Perform maintenance and repairs associated with air bags, king pins, foundation brakes, differentials, clutches and transmissions. Ability to work with multiple management groups and staff to help provide the best possible customer service. Ability to work flexible hours which would include being part of an on - call rotation with other technicians. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: Must have a high school education or GED. Work Experience: Eight years of experience with at least four years of experience working on school/activity buses, or comparable experience working in an original equipment manufacturer dealership. Fully understands equipment systems and sub-systems (i.e., engines, hydraulics, electrical, transmissions, etc.) for respective product lines. Experience and expertise with Ford products such as the 6.8L (V10) and 7.3L (V8) engines and 6R140 6-speed automatic transmission are mandatory. Physical: Must be able to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend, and climb onto and underneath various equipment to perform diagnosis and repairs. Must be able to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports. Must be able to routinely and physically lift/position various parts to perform repairs/service and manually handle parts up to 117 pounds, as well as use mechanical hoist for heavier parts. Other: Must be able to effectively write repair activities on customer work orders. Must have cognitive reasoning and critical thinking skills to apply knowledge, written information, and verbal instructions in repairing/servicing unusual and/or unknown technical equipment operational problems. Should have exposure to PC base equipment and parts information. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Field Activity: Must be able to operate an assigned service vehicle daily as well as be prequalified to operate under GPEC Fleet Policy Standards. The driver must be able to operate their assigned vehicle for extended periods to reach customer's locations. Must be able to effectively communicate using telephones to receive instructions and to provide service information. Must be able to effectively deal directly with customers at site locations in a professional manner. Additional: Field activities require a valid state driver's license (obtain within 30 days of hire a valid license within the state of GPEC's operation) AND possess a safe driving record which meets the safe driving standards outlined in the GPEC Fleet Policy. Operation of some vehicles will require a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), others may require that the driver possess a DOT medical certification. Some positions may require that you obtain a DOT medical certification before you are considered for the position. All positions that require driving for company business or within a Company Owned Vehicle will be held to the standards of the GPEC Fleet Policy.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to): · End-of-Line Network Testing: Testing light levels at the end of fiber networks for balanced signal between points is crucial to ensure proper signal transmission and network performance. · Cable Prep: Ensure that cables are properly labeled and organized to minimize errors during installation. · Build Fiber Cases and Enclosures: Constructing fiber cases and enclosures involves creating protective housings for fiber optic equipment and connections. · Splice Color for Color Fibers: When splicing fiber optic cables together, technicians match the colors of the fibers to ensure that the correct fibers are connected. · Cable Management: Organize the cables neatly within the enclosure, ensuring that they are properly routed and secured to prevent tangling or damage. · Sealing and Placement of Case: Ensuring that the enclosure is properly closed and secured to protect the equipment and cables inside from environmental elements. · Read Prints and Maps: Examine Splice Matrix and redline maps to understand fiber routes and assignments. · Splice off color and multiple cables in one enclosure. · Jumping Trays: Routing fibers from one tray to another, possibly to optimize cable management, minimize signal loss, or create efficient pathways within the enclosure. · Splice Tie Point and Jumper Cases: Splicing fibers at a tie point involves connecting fibers from different cables. · Connect Jumper cables between jumper cases. · Rehab gel-filles cases: The process of refurbishing or rehabilitating gel-filled enclosures used in fiber optic networks. · Redlining and Documentation: Marking up or annotating existing drawings or documents with changes, updates, or corrections. · Case swaps and audits: Replacing one equipment case or enclosure with another. · Troubleshooting: Identifying, diagnosing, and resolving issues that can affect the performance and reliability of the network. · May pull cable through existing duct package, pull cable through conduit either manually, blowing, or mechanically, and splice and activate underground and aerial lines. · Other duties as assigned. Primary Responsibilities: Install, program, test, and service fire alarm, security, CCTV, nurse call, and telecom systems Perform inspections and troubleshoot system issues to ensure full code compliance Pull, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling (all standard types) Upgrade system components and perform scheduled maintenance as needed Respond to emergency service calls, including after hours Instruct customers on system use and basic maintenance Complete accurate service reports and job documentation Travel to customer sites and stay until work is complete, including overtime when required Basic Qualifications: 3 years of practical experience as a low-voltage technician. Knowledge of all fire safety codes and regulations. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Clean driving record. Nicet I Certification is PREFERRED, but not required. Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed.
