Radio Communications Technician 2 - Performs a variety of skilled technical communications services activities for the City's Public Safety agencies, external Public agency partners, the Regional Lane County District 911 Communication Center, and other divisions/departments within the city of Eugene; these responsibilities include analysis, maintenance, enhancement and replacement of existing communication infrastructures, networks, equipment, and software; including mobile, portable and fixed-station communications equipment such as conventional/trunked/simulcast LMR systems, short haul and long haul microwave platforms, mobile communication systems, IP telecom systems, communication system networks and public address systems. ABOUT THE POSITION
The technician ensures proper installation and operation of designated Astec products including installation, commissioning startup, training, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair. · Coordinate and communicate with Astec sales, engineering, and manufacturing groups for product or process issues, including warranty, design recommendations, and reporting of any/all damage to equipment during shipment or installation.
· Work closely with the Functional Leadership, Product Support Managers, and Office Support Staff to ensure accurate service reports, and associated billing.
· Be available for emergency dispatch; 7 days a week, 24 hours a day to support our customers and staff.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); some previous work-related experience is a plus; or a combination of education and experience equivalent as deemed sufficient by management.
· Minimum 5 years' experience in construction, manufacturing, or related fields
· Prefer 5 years of experience in the HMA, Concrete, or Combustion Industries
· Knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

BASIC FUNCTION
Flexible Schedule! Great Opportunity for Someone Looking for Additional Income and/or Anyone Working at Valley River Center! The Maintenance and Repair Technician is a part-time position which requires 1 visit/week of approximately 2 hours (during non business hours) at the Valley River Center mall to maintain the strollers and stroller vending unit. Additionally, this position will travel to USPS locations (mileage reimbursement) to repair and perform preventive maintenance on our locker systems. This position has direct responsibility for the strollers at the mall to include:, equipment maintenance and cleaning, cash collection/accounting and reporting, and relationship management. The Location Manager reports to the District Service Manager. There is approximately 20 USPS locations within the central Oregon area that will require at least one visit per month. Visits to the USPS locations generally take 10-15 minutes per visit; travel time to USPS locations is also paid.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Valley River Center requires 1 visit/week (potentially more if equipment is inoperable). Work performed is tracked through an app submitted on each visit (candidate will need to own a smart phone).
Working knowledge of equipment and ability to perform maintenance and repairs.
Maintain clean equipment at all times (strollers are cleaned on every visit).
Perform collections accurately, bank and report financial transactions as directed by District Service Manager.
Submit reports in an accurate and timely manner.
Understand work rules and the expectations of the facility and Smarte Carte.
Maintain regular contact with District Service Manager.
Ensure a safe working environment by ensuring all equipment is in good repair and working as designed.
