Position Summary:
The Fiber InstallationTechnician is responsible for the installation, Wi-Fi router configuration, testing/customer acceptance of the IQ Fiber FTTH service. The Fiber InstallationTechnician will also respond to internet service calls, service changes and disconnects. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy interacting with customers in their home or business with equipment such as routers and ONTs. A Fiber InstallationTechnician must have various levels of experience with the installation and repair of fiber broadband services in indoor and outdoor settings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform assigned fiber internet installations following established codes, standards and norms for the industry.
Resolve assigned fiber internet service tickets following established codes, standards and norms for the industry.
Use problem-solving skills to properly set up initial Wi-Fi network or to diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues involving internet and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Travel to the job site and arrive on time, in professional attire commensurate with the assigned work, with all safety gear, required tools and parts.
Contact dispatch if help in troubleshooting or completing the install is required.
Document actions performed, quality measures/readings, resolutions, etc. in installation order or service ticket via company provided technology.
Utilize our systems and tools to proactively check for and resolve potential issues before marking the install or service call as complete.
Adhere to company, industry (TIA/EIA, ANSI, BICSI) and safety standards and procedures.
Perform basic splicing and basic fiber maintenance activities. Working knowledge of GPON and related terminals and equipment.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Ability and willingness to work the scheduled and/or unscheduled overtime work assignments and after-hours callouts in all types of weather.
Focus on meeting or exceeding individual and team objectives and key customer success metrics (Install completion, Quality, CSAT, Meantime to Resolution (MTTR), etc.).
Interact with other teams to coordinate and disseminate information to complete job assignments and to meet Company service objectives.
Interact with customers in a professional manner to foster positive relationships.
Ensure vehicle has the proper equipment to complete assigned work (CPE, installation materials, tools, test equipment, etc.).
Properly operate and maintain all assigned vehicles, equipment and tools within company safety and brand standards.
Maintain required certifications and/or licenses.
Maintain a professional image.
Effectively communicate IQ Fiber's product and service offering.
Navigate through multiple systems.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
2+ years installation and maintenance experience.
Preference for operating in a fast-paced, technical environment with a high degree of critical thinking and problem solving.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment without supervision.
Willing to learn, adapt and evolve with the team and company and develop new skills quickly.
Strong technical aptitude with excellent end-user interaction skills.
Must have good oral and written communications skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience with internet, Wi-Fi troubleshooting; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Experience in one or more ticketing, CRM, provisioning, ordering, scheduling, troubleshooting software and tools accessed via tablets and/or smartphones.
Excels at explaining complex concepts simply.
Capable of answering technical questions from technical and non-technical users.
High school diploma or equivalent. Electronics training/Certifications a plus.
Must be able to pass criminal background check, driving record check and drug test.

What you will do
Under minimal supervision, conducts preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning and general servicing of systems (including detailed troubleshooting of systems). Responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on site, customer interface. With a high level of complete technical competence, mentors control technicians, service technicians and mechanical technicians on building automation activities. Properly completes required project and service documentation. Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items. As a trusted advisor to our customers, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service
How you will do it
Diagnoses and repairs complex control systems malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems and ability to test and write modifications in multiple languages of systems software.
Consults with the customer through data gathered and site assessments. Provides field proposals for retrofits, upgrades and or enhancements to existing equipment. Assists sales by providing technical recommendations for sales leads.
Manages assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction. Reports problems or changes to management immediately. Interfaces with branch manager, service manager, service project manager or subcontractors on projects to coordinate activities as required ethically and professionally.
Provides sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings. May assist with job layouts and bid proposals.
Communicates with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Ensures high levels of customer satisfaction. Meets regularly with customers to become familiar with operating problems. Keeps customer informed on the service provided, outstanding issues and recommends system enhancements, upgrades, and replacement. Promotes the sale of add-on work.
Adheres to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards. Provides safety leadership and instruction to all control's technicians in the branch. Provides safety awareness while working onsite with Johnson Controls subcontractors.
Trains the customer in control systems operations. Delivers manuals and documentation to the customer for training needs as required.
Provides mentorship for certification of Controls Technicians and Service Technicians on complex building automation systems. Coaches, supports and trains the technical workforce on non-complex, non-critical equipment.
Compiles job documentation, such as certificate of completion, customer training form, training certificates and punch lists.
Conducts extensive self-study (reading, research and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company's product lines. Completes certifications as required by the company.
Other duties related to the installing, commissioning and servicing of building controls and facilities management systems and energy management systems, as assigned.
Assists in the design and configuration of building control systems as defined by the contract documents. Creates flow diagrams, sequence of operations, and bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required.
Assists in developing and testing software programs necessary to operate the system per the project requirements' intent.
Compiles and/or completes project as built and close-out documentation.
Assists in the coordination and creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
Selects, orders, and tracks the delivery of materials for assigned projects. Coordinates factory-mounting processes to meet factory and project schedule.
Assists in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required. Assists in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
May provide field change information to the project team for the creation of as-built drawings and software.
Keeps management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.
Assists in performing site-specific training for owner / operator on the total building control system.
Participates in release meeting with project field team.
Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

Performs preventative maintenance programs/tasks for all equipment.
Responsible for minor repairs of buildings, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting.
Assists in coordinating/directing subcontractor services for completion of extensive or complex projects.
Follows and ensures compliance with all applicable OSHA, GMP, FDA, State, Local and Company regulations, policies and procedures.
Responds to emergency calls, makes immediate repairs when necessary and assists subcontractor if further repairs are necessary.
Performs special projects as assigned.
Reports all facility safety and security issues to management.
Performs general cleaning of facility, equipment and tools.
