MGX Field Crane Technicians are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various crane equipment including mobile cranes and boom trucks. This position will be located in the Charleston, SC or surrounding area, reporting to the Service Manager at the Aiken, SC branch for MGX Equipment Services.
* Candidates hired for this role will receive a $4,500 sign-on bonus, payable after 90 days continuous service; and be eligible for our Tool Reimbursement Program of up to $1,500 per calendar year. Relocation assistance may also be available to those who qualify.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Diagnose, repair and troubleshoot various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes.
Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision.
Perform thorough and accurate annual inspections.
Properly fills out working reports, hours reports, time sheets, hours overviews and expense reports.
Provides excellent customer service.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Crane Mechanic/Technician preferred.
Experience working with different forms of mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT & TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes; National Boom Trucks preferred.
Must be able to read both electrical and hydraulic schematics.
Must be able to travel 50% of the time to job sites and for training as required.
Must have excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus.
Must possess a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Basic computer skills preferred.

PAY & TRAINING:
This position offers a pay range between $25.00 - $45.00 per hour depending on skills and qualifications for non-bargaining employees. Pay is provided on a bi-weekly basis and there are 14 days in the pay period, beginning on a Monday and ending on a Sunday.

The primary function of this position is to determine the status of and provide support for school and activity buses within the school bus industry. This includes all types of planned maintenance services, as well as any expert level field repairs, replacements, installations, or rebuilding of parts to restore the bus to its proper operation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Review the work schedule, check the equipment and supply required to perform the work scheduled, comply with PPE requirements, and otherwise prepare for duties.
Use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, parts diagrams to troubleshoot, engines, engine fuel systems, & transmissions.
Use lift trucks, overhead cranes, & other aides to lift or move parts into position to be repaired.
Use hand & power tools to remove, install, replace, re-build, repair, & test.
Use miscellaneous resources & computers to reference parts, get information about parts & enter data into record systems.
Use hand & power tools to disassemble/reassemble parts or equipment, drains fluids into tubs, cleans parts with rags, cleaners, power washer.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Must have a high school education or GED.
Work Experience:
Eight years of experience with at least four years of experience working on school/activity buses, or comparable experience working in an original equipment manufacturer dealership. Fully understands equipment systems and sub-systems (i.e., engines, hydraulics, electrical, transmissions, etc.) for respective product lines. Physical:

Must be able to effectively deal directly with customers at site locations in a professional manner.
