Responsibilities:
Receive, process, coordinate, and execute cable locate requests for all proposed excavation areas to identify buried or underground government telecommunications cables.
Conduct physical site inspections and locate cable paths using contractor-furnished GPS equipment with accuracy to within 1 meter, and mark cable paths using inverted fluorescent orange paint and/or stakes.
Provide digital time-stamped photographs of the marked areas and submit red-line drawings to the Government's CAD/GIS team upon completion.
Accurately document all locate activity on the digging permit, return completed permits to DPW, and maintain internal file copies.
Identify whether NEC-owned cables are present within the area of concern and ensure compliance with government standards for cable locate response times (within 1 working day).
Prepare and submit paperwork necessary for obtaining digging permits and environmental clearances for all excavation projects.
Support 24/7 on-call emergency locate requests related to utility damage or urgent infrastructure repairs, including third-party damage and acts of God.
Avoid digging in paved or sensitive areas; follow proper boring procedures where required.
Ensure all open trenches or pits are properly marked and secured, using plywood covers (if possible), orange safety cones, and yellow caution tape when left overnight
Qualifications
Education and Certifications:
High school diploma required, technical training in telecommunications, construction, or underground utility locating preferred.
Valid Driver's License.
OSHA 10 - Workplace safety.
NULCA (National Utility Locating Contractors Association) Certification.

Job Functions
Repair all equipment and prescribed physical facility items in a timely and high quality manner according to company standards, policies, and procedures. Repairs include but are not limited to restaurant and commercial cooking equipment, ice/beverage equipment, refrigeration equipment, building control systems, exhaust and fresh air systems, drive-thru audio systems, HVAC systems, minor electrical systems and circuits, minor plumbing systems including hot water heaters, and minor building repairs.
Maintain and account for truck stock inventory, including the accurate charging and billing of items used for repairs.
Maintain, account for and secure all tools, equipment, supplies, and materials on-site, purchased, ordered, replaced, or discarded.
Respond and assist as needed in staffing shortages, new equipment rollouts, emergencies, natural disasters, training, etc., outside of assigned region.
Complete all administrative requirements of the position in a timely and accurate manner. Use lap top and/or hand held computer to log in calls, time, and nature of repair at each designated site. Enter ongoing data into lap top/hand held computer regarding location and repairs anticipated, completed, ongoing, parts purchase and time arrived, on-site, and completed.
Inspect, maintain, and perform daily maintenance on company van to assure proper running condition to respond to calls quickly with minimum interruption 24/7.
Alert Senior Service Tech of any service repairs needing assistance, technically, mechanically, and physically. Use house or cell phones to communicate with Senior Service Tech as needed.
Consistently exhibit the actions/behaviors which best demonstrate BNE's Vision and Values; perform other tasks as directed by management; and always represent Boddie-Noell Enterprises, Inc. as a professional in every aspect of teamwork and performance.

* Tests or performs technical analyses and subsequently repairs all malfunctions or aberrations that are encountered in the maintenance, operations or testing of communications, system control and LAN equipment and makes any disposition necessary to insure proper operations and the continuity of the communication system including the following: VHF radio (base, mobile, handicom, pager and switches); power line carriers and associated equipment; batteries and battery chargers; tower light controls; communications, monitoring and recording equipment associated with system control; telemetering equipment; tone transmitters and receivers used for alarming; other associated communications and system control equipment; the LAN information systems; and building and grounds.
* Assists technicians of a higher classification in the testing, operating or repairing of the following equipment: Microwave; SCADA and other computers; and multiplex equipment.
* Performs installations of a routine nature and puts into service the types of equipment listed in Duty A.
* Makes sketches, takes notes, draws graphs, and completes reports in order to maintain complete and accurate records about the installation, testing, repair and maintenance of equipment in Duty A.
* Makes the prescribed written reports in order to meet Federal Communications Commission requirements.
* Responsible for the utilization, maintenance and security of assigned tools, test equipment, vehicles and work areas.
* Suggests to the Communications Working Foreman or the Area Coordinator Communication any recommendations about practices, procedures, system requirements or improvements in order to facilitate maintenance schedules, short- or long-range plans and other efficiencies in cost improvements.
* Acts in an exemplary manner in order to maintain and promote safe practices and procedures and participates in scheduled safety meetings and first aid classes.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
* High School Diploma or equivalent, plus additional academic background in electronic circuitry and technology
Experience:
* Two years with an electric utility or a comparable industry where a strong background in electronic communications equipment was obtained.
Skills and Abilities:
* Installation, testing, maintenance and repair of VHF radios, power line carriers, microwave, computers, multiplex and telemetering equipment; second class FCC license; driver's license
Working Conditions:
* Primarily field environment, may require extended hours

Qualifications:
