Position Summary:
Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our team and play a vital role in providing exceptional service and support for our analytical instrumentation. In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of service-related functions, including the repair, maintenance, and performance verification of assigned products, including demo equipment and instruments returned from customers.
JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Provide daily repair and maintenance support for assigned products.
Conduct in-house bench repairs as needed while primarily handling field service calls with limited supervision.
Travel within the local region (including day and overnight trips) to support customer needs.
Offer technical support via phone to customers and field personnel regarding repairs, maintenance and installations.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
At least four years of experience in repairing analytical instrumentation, including HPLC, GC, LCMS, AA, or similar instruments.
Strong technical knowledge and understanding of these technologies.
Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
Willingness to travel at least 50%

Compensation & Benefits:
This full-time, non-exempt position comes with a comprehensive benefits package. In your first year, you will receive 10 paid vacation days, 8 paid personal days, 8 paid scheduled holidays and 3 paid floating holidays (Residents of California and Puerto Rico will receive state-mandated sick leave instead of personal days). After one year of employment, you will also be eligible for a generous short-term disability program with the company covering 100% of monthly premiums.
The starting salary range for this role is $75,000 to $77,000 annually, paid semi-monthly. As a non-exempt position, you will be eligible for overtime and double time pay, as outlined in our employee handbook. Additional variable compensation includes an incentive plan (10% of base salary) based on company and service performance, paid semi-annually in April and October. A year-end discretionary bonus may also be awarded based on overall company performance.
This position includes a company car with a fuel card (with a $55 per pay deduction for personal use) and a company-paid cell phone, which remains company property but can be used for personal purposes.

We're seeking a skilled Rotary Screw Air Compressor Service Technician to join our service team. In this role, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair rotary screw air compressors across a range of industrial environments. The position also includes servicing and repairing compressed air dryers (refrigerated and desiccant). Industrial refrigeration experience is a plus and will be highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
Preventive Maintenance (PM): Perform scheduled PMs on rotary screw air compressors, including oil and filter changes, belt inspections, and lubrication.
Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues; replace/repair motors, drives, regulators, valves, separators, coolers, and control components.
Compressed Air Dryers: Service and repair refrigerated and desiccant dryers (heatless, heated, and blower purge), including dew point verification, drain systems, and desiccant media changes.
System Commissioning: Assist with start-up, commissioning, and performance verification of new compressor and dryer installations.
Controls & Electrical: Work with PLCs, VFDs, and microprocessor-based controls; read schematics and electrical diagrams to isolate faults.
Oil Analysis & Documentation: Perform oil sampling and maintain service records per warranty and OEM standards.
Customer Support: Provide on-site technical guidance, explain findings and corrective actions, and recommend system improvements.
Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and environmental regulations (fluids handling, refrigerants).
On-Call/Travel: Participate in rotating on-call schedule and travel to customer sites within the region.
Qualifications

What you will do
Under minimal supervision, conducts preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning and general servicing of systems (including detailed troubleshooting of systems). Responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on site, customer interface. What you will do
Perform HVAC Control systems programming, troubleshooting, installation, commissioning and preventative maintenance as it is related to mechanical, electrical, and low voltage controls components.
Respond to service and warranty calls using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools as well as a variety of hand tools including electrical testing meters and other electronic testing equipment.
Provide front line technical and repair support through effective communications with Johnson Controls customers.
Provide system repair and or update recommendations and assist in proposing of recommendations to Johnson Controls customers.

How you will do it
Loading Johnson Controls field and network level controller software.
Performing commissioning and system diagnostics for all levels of system controllers as well as end
devices (i.e. Sensors, actuators, etc.) and complete all required commissioning documentation.
Keeps management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.
Calibrates systems requiring basic electronic test equipment.
Completes administrative tasks including but not limited to time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation.
Documents changes and provides information for as-built documentation.
Execute company sponsored as well as personally initiated training to insure the highest level of knowledge and capability are maintained
Engage with customers to fully understand their systems and needs.
Communicates with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
Follows all safety standards and attends required safety training. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
What we look for
Required
Vocational School four year program or an Associate degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field plus three years of industry experience or 2+ years experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, sequence and applications
Demonstrated technical aptitude in mechanical and electro-mechanical fields
Able to use hand, power tools and electrical testing equipment such as a multi meter.
Solid knowledge base in use of personal computers.
Attention to detail.
Good communication and listening skills.
HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $19.00-$25.00 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) Position Summary:
Work involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical/electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment. The National Electrical Code and all other applicable standards and specifications are followed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrate safe work habits, comply with company safety requirements
Understand the Industry and the Standards involved
Install and terminate CAT* cable
Install and terminate fiber optic cable
Conduct Service Calls and oversee Projects as needed/necessary
Test both copper and fiber cables
Read blueprints - apply specifications
Feel comfortable with Microsoft Office computer platforms
BICSI Certified a plus
Self driven - able to work with limited supervision
Moves/handles various equipment and spools of wire
Proper care for material, tools and equipment
Assist electricians by performing various tasks
Operates power tools such as drills, saws, pullers, tuggers, etc
Requires knowledge of process, procedures, and methods
Requires the use of common courtesy in everyday contacts with employees, clients, and the general public
Required to carry a pager or cell phone and be on-call when necessary
Night/weekend work as required
Work as required in varying weather climates
The ability to travel out of town and stay overnight as required
Teach, train, and guide electrical apprentices working under licensed Journeyworkers
