    The Director of Artificial Intelligence (AI) leads the Institute for Humane Studies' (IHS) artificial intelligence strategy and oversees the development, deployment, and optimization of AI/ML solutions across the organization. Reporting to the Managing Director of Information Technology, this role manages technical teams powering ScholarsEdge - IHS's AI-driven research and networking platform - and drives innovation in legislative tracking, concept search, scholar matching, and funding recommendation systems. The Director ensures scalable, reliable ML infrastructure while aligning AI initiatives with organizational goals and ethical standards. Supervisory Responsibilities: 2-4 direct reports (and 2-4 indirect reports). Reports include members of the Technology Innovation, ScholarsEdge, and AI teams. Duties & Responsibilities: Lead end-to-end development, testing, evaluation, and deployment of AI/ML models supporting ScholarsEdge and other organizational tools. Conduct robustness and adversarial testing to ensure models maintain continuous improvement, reliability, and competitive technical advantages. Supervise and mentor direct and indirect reports, address skill gaps through employee development, and create growth plans as AI, ML, and team capabilities scale. Architect and optimize AI and data systems across Azure, GCP, and AWS multi-cloud environments. Oversee MLOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, system performance monitoring, and optimization of compute resources, model training costs, and data infrastructure to ensure cost-effective AI operations. Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies (e.g., LLMs, vector databases, RAG architectures) to enhance IHS platforms and services. Promote knowledge-sharing across IT and cross-functional teams; maintain and enforce best practices for ML lifecycle management, model governance, and code quality. Guide the AI/ML roadmap and communicate strategy to internal stakeholders and external partners. Collaborate with Programs, Academic Outreach, Intellectual Talent Development, Development, and Marketing to refine matching algorithms, enhance research tools, support data-driven user engagement, and development of donor-driven AI research and analysis projects. Partner with Marketing to develop digital solutions that enhance user-journey data collection and integrate insights into CRM and analytics systems. Occasional travel to conferences, meetings, and organizational events. Up to 10% travel required. Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field; Master's or PhD preferred. 5+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering with demonstrated success building and deploying production ML systems. Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, and developing direct and indirect reports. Strong collaborative leadership style with ability to guide cross-functional teams. Proficiency in Python and major ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn). Experience with Azure ML, AWS SageMaker, GCP Vertex AI, and multi-cloud architecture. Knowledge of NLP/LLM technologies, vector databases, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems. Experience with MLOps practices, feature stores, CI/CD processes, and ML deployment tools. Familiarity with modern databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and data ecosystems. Strong communication skills, especially in translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences. Strong problem-solving skills with attention to ethical and responsible AI considerations. Understanding of and appreciation for classical liberal values and the IHS mission.

Hope Services engages with people in the natural settings of the people supported - from streets and shelters through to people's homes, and the Housing Navigator is expected to help support a transition to a permanent solution to homelessness for all people, regardless of where they are encountered and supported. Furthermore, the Housing Navigator is accountable to end users of services, peers, and the community and ethically perform duties in accordance with the main currents of thought and practice in housing-based supports and in accordance with professional standards. The primary function of the Housing Navigator is to: 1. Certify individuals/households as homeless in accordance with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development Standards; 2. Prioritize services based on the VI-SPDAT assessment (a triage tool that assesses depth of need); 3. Assist individuals/households in becoming Document Ready; 4. Participate in the Warm Handoff to the Housing Team. As a secondary function, the Housing Navigator also provides client advocacy, case management, benefit establishment, linkage to mental health and substance use services, and all other supportive services as needed. Housing Navigators can be heavily involved in supporting the work of outreach staff and case managers to help ensure support and housing needs are met. For over 45 years, we've been at the forefront of creating tailored solutions for those in crisis, offering a continuum of care that includes emergency shelters, housing programs, health services, employment assistance, and outreach. The Registered Nurse works in partnership with programs internal to IHS including but not limited to the outreach teams and the IHS Health Services Clinics, as well as with other health services providers in the community. This position provides triage, nursing and urgent medical care to targeted homeless individuals who may be in crisis or who have been identified as needing medical, detox, psychiatric, and social services. Compensation: Starting from $80,000 annually, actual pay commensurate with experience. Essential Functions: Demonstrate excellent customer service consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization. Provide direct care, initial first aid, and, if needed, other nursing services to unsheltered/sheltered homeless. Provide referrals and work proactively with operations staff of IHS in advance of homeless individuals entering IHS shelters to ensure successful placement, service, linkage and supports as appropriate. Work in collaboration with physicians, psychiatrists and other IHS staff to ensure identification of mental health, medical needs, diagnoses and linkage to access medications and medication appointments to support medication adherence and success for homeless individuals. Assist case managers in communicating with MDs, including psychiatrists regarding any healthcare issues including, but not limited to the management of chronic illness, medication management, diagnostic procedures, need for health education. Assist with and/or provide guest health education regarding medical and mental health concerns frequently encountered with persons served. Input and maintain accurate documentation related to the provision of services; Regularly document per all of the programs' requirements. Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Working knowledge of healthcare and medical needs of homeless and/or disenfranchised populations. Possess excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills. Able to perform nursing assessments, develop appropriate formulations, interventions and service plans that assist individuals with complex problems and document accurately in the systems of record. Current BLS or CPR certification. Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to mission. Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment. Required Education and Experience: Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university. Must be licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Hawaii. Have at least 1- 2 years of work experience in nursing or working in community health. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Generally 12 hour shifts with some varying shift hours based on classification. Hours and days may vary based on the needs of the organization.
